We'd never stopped here before. Mexican food is always great but service was really crappy. Prices were great. Our waitress didn't check on us and we almost had to grab her just to get a soda refill. It appeared they did a lot of pick-up orders. And the employees appeared to be running around. Unsure if it's a normal thing or just because it was a Friday night, not that it excuses poor service. 2nd visit to this restaurant because it was so good. Excited that they had Chile relleno. Portions are generous but the batter the pepper is dipped in was too eggy tasting for us. Still will go back for entre's to try.
I've had the pleasure of eating at Taqueria El Jalapeño several times, and this place is legit. There is ample parking and it's located right off the exit to Verona Rd/Midvale. The restaurant has a lovely interior. I love the colorful carved tables, chairs and booths. As soon as you sit down, chips and salsa make their way to the table. Both are very tasty - and the hot sauce that comes in the red bottle is fantastic. On my most recent visit, I ordered the taco salad...
