5 Best Craft Breweries near Onalaska

Skeleton Crew Brew Brewery • $$
570 Theater Rd, Onalaska

“Skeleton Crew Brew is a different brewery for the area. They have a lot of fruit forward beers and they also do wine, flights are available for each. Peach, mango, apricot....once you step in you'll get they have a beach theme. For their beers on my last stop they had Belgian tripel, passion fruit orange guava, peach cereal ale, mango IPA, black currant sour, NEDIPA, and a honey nut brown. Now I heard they have some dark beers coming soon which would be great considering I am not a fruit beer person but I still liked them. On top of that the owner was nice and the beer tender was off the charts friendly. I wAm guessing I will be back.“

“Great food! Waitress was super knowledgable. I wish I remember he name- dark hair with a few tattoos. I personally don't drink so I appreciate they had a designated mocktail menu- the blues clue was so good, it had the same quality and craftsmanship other cocktails have, so I really appreciated that. My friends I went with who do drink said the drinks were fabulous. All of our food was fantastic, and the french fries are to die for. We went on a Saturday night so they were packed, but the vibes were great. Will be back.“

Turtle Stack Brewery Brewery • $
125 2nd St S, La Crosse - 5.05 miles

“We came in for a taste. All in all, small beer selection, great atmosphere and friendly service. Like others have said, quaint place with a rustic/industrial vibe. Flight of beers -- German Pils, Belgian Witbier, Schwarz (black) Lager, Maple Rye Belgian Dark. My dad and I came in with both having very different style preferences in beer taste, but decided on four to try together. We were both in love with the dark color but light and refreshing flavor profile of the Schwarz lager, but disappointed in the lack of maple in the Maple Rye. It was too sweet without being maple forward and alcohol-y tasting. Others were decent but nothing to write home about.“

608 Brewing Company Brewery • $$
83 Copeland Ave, La Crosse - 4.11 miles

“Great interior and glad there was outdoor seating - we were there on an unseasonably warm day in early March and got to soak up some sun. The beers weren't really for me, but my beer season is summer, so I might just be too early. A lot of interesting stuff, just not my palate. I like that they offer 5oz pours - I thought the smoothie sour was pretty good, but I wouldn't have wanted a whole glass of it.“

Pearl Street Brewery Brewery • $
1401 St Andrew St, La Crosse - 3.46 miles

“Pearl Street brewery is a pretty cool little brewery that moved into the old La Crosse boot factory; it's dark and industrial with low ceilings. They have lots of space with a little outdoor beer garden. They generally have 16 of their beers on tap with a few that well distributed. On my last stop they had lite, a lime, Brown, chocolate strawberry porter, orange hazy IPA, Hopped IPA, Pale Ale, amber wheat, hibiscus sour, citra IPA, Oat Stout, an aged sour, Belgian Quad, margarita sour, a double IPA, and a cucumber seltzer. The service and the patrons are friendly. It is worth a stop and you may catch a band on the right night.“
