Starboard Brewing Company is a nice little brewery in downtown Sturgeon Bay, housed in a cool old building with a bowling alley for a bar top. They offer a great variety of beer, including a gluten-free option, with 12 of their own creations such as a mosaic IPA, citra IPA, NEIPA, maple sour, mexican lager, a blended pale ale, Belgian white, amber, a smoked double red, dry irish stout, a Belgian saison, and a Bavarian wheat. Guests can enjoy delicious tacos along with their drinks, and the beers are pleasant and enjoyable. The owners and staff are friendly and happy to give recommendations, and they rotate beers, making each visit different and fun. Visitors can sometimes see events like the Harvest festival outside, and the brewmaster, who was bartending at times, is knowledgeable and delightful. The brewery has a unique smoked beer that has been praised for its unusual and special flavor, with some customers taking home growlers. Despite challenges faced by small breweries in 2024, Starboard Brewing continues to be a recommended stop for beer lovers passing through the area.
