“Y'all, don't miss this place! It's a bit "off the beaten path," but that's part of the charm. The menu has some typical options AND some really unique offerings. The BEST cheese curds in the Northwoods. They aren't the typical breaded/deep fried version that you find everywhere; they are a lightly flash fried creamy cheese delight with an amazing dipping sauce that will turn you off of ranch dressing forever. I know it sounds crazy but the Bacon, Blackberry, Cheesecake Burger was simply amazing!!! The flavors meld together into the most delicious bite of burger with the salty bacon nicely offsetting the sweetness of the fresh blackberries, blackberry jam and cheesecake. The fries were wedges with the perfect seasoning. Where else can you find a fried Blacktip Shark Loin appetizer? The ribs, brisket and smoked wings satisfied this Texas gals craving for BBQ too. We were too full for dessert but were sooooo tempted by the homemade chocolate cherry cheesecake and know it would have been splendid. The service was excellent; friendly, personable, helpful suggestions and on top of things. Chef Paul and his wife Elana both stopped by our table to chat and remembered us from a previous visit when we were in town a couple of months ago. The decor is absolutely iconic Northwoods rustic lodge. A fireplace, casual atmosphere, wonderful taxidermy everywhere, a bar where you feel comfortable lingering over a before and/or after dinner drink. A very comfortable and welcoming experience overall. We definitely include Backdraft BBQ on our list of favorites.“
