We ate 3/27/24 & had a big group. The service was top notchThe food so delicious I'm eating my leftovers as I type this. The chef was amazing in his skills but entertaining my 2yo grandson was my favorite part. I really appreciate that . He was having the time of his life , so it certainly means a lot to take time to entertain the little ones. Thank you.I highly recommend eating here .

Located across the street from our hotel, we came here purely from reviews and it was a great choice where choices are limited. Overall, the miso soup tasted like chicken broth and the sushi was meh but the staff was great and service was quick. We all ordered filet mignon/shrimp hibachi & my youngest said his fried rice was “so delicious” so total win.

During a brief stay in Beckley with my wife and two boys, we were fortunate to dine at Fujiyama Restaurant. Despite arriving late, the place was welcoming and served up some of the best sushi we’ve had.The highlight of the evening was the unexpected generosity of the owner, Jenny. After our meal, she insisted on not charging us because she felt the atmosphere wasn’t up to their usual standard—a detail we hadn’t noticed, as we were too caught up in the warmth and friendliness of the staff. Jenny’s humility and kindness, alongside her genuine concern for her team and guests, made our visit unforgettable.Fujiyama offered us more than just a meal; it provided a memorable experience that made our trip even more special. We can’t wait to return to Fujiyama on our next trip through Beckley, not just for the incredible sushi, but for the exceptional hospitality that Jenny and her team provide. For those near Beckley, Fujiyama is a must-visit for an evening of great food and warm hospitality.

Portions are tiny, the size you might expect from an all you can eat sushi buffet,  but at à la carte  prices. The wait staff have no idea what the words nigiri and tekka maki mean: do not use these words, you will only confuse the person taking your order.

Food was not what I expected, all separated from each other like a country meal. Noodles and vegetables were mushy. Chicken was tasteless and too saucy. Asked for extra spicy and came out with no spice at all.

We were disappointed here. Service was quick and pleasant - a plus - but the food was average. Soggy gyoza, minimal veggies and meat with the Udon noodles. Noodles instead of rice with the hibachi meal. Tipping suggestions start at 20%! Not sure if this standard of food is typical or down to a very busy Friday night.

The waiter was having an off day, apparently. He got the drink order wrong and 1 plate of food. Completely missed the appetizer order.

Food was excellent. Chef was excellent. Had to wait a bit for the check tho it didn't seem busy when the meal was finished. We were checked on & told boxes and the checks would be brought. Returned almost immediately with the to go boxes but then had to wait 15 minutes to get the check. That is the only reason I am taking off one star.

Coming from Florida and having Kobe’s as our go-to hibachi, this clears it no-dif. Fantastic service, food, portions, drinks. Totally recommend the flaming volcano drink as well as anything on the menu. 10/10

We had been to the restaurant in Charleston, and someone had mentioned to us that we should try the one in Beckley, West Virginia. We stopped by about 1:00 o'clock in the afternoon and there were just a few cars in the parking lot.We went in, and the first thing we noticed was the amazing woodwork carvings of chairs, tables, and other trees. There was also a pond with goldfish in it, which I didn't expect. My first impression was that this is a cool restaurant! They seated us at the table with the grill across from a full party of people, both adults and kids. The floor was a mess, litered with food from where the chef had dropped food while preparing their meals. Our chief was nice, did all the little tricks, played with the fire, and then prepared our food. The food was above average but not what I had experienced from other Japanese restaurants. There was no free shrimp to try out, and the scramble egg that is cooked with the rice was left in large clunky pieces that I pulled to the side.We had the Filet Mignon with rive and noodles without the vegetables, and the quantity of food was huge.We took 2 Togo boxes home and had some for later that night, which helped offset the cost of the meal.We both enjoyed the food, the atmosphere was very good with all the carvings, the waitress and chief were very friendly and had worked there many years.Like I said, we were traveling through, so the stop helped the trip go smoother, we stretched our legs and got out of the car for about an hour. The experience was fun, the food was okay but we probably would not return if we lived in the area but I'm glad we tried it out.Parking: The area from the road into the parking lot is in need of repair. It was very rough, missing concrete with holes.

We go to this location on a regular basis and always have a very good to excellent experience. Service is always very good and the food is normally amazing. We have had an occasional visit where some food is not as good as other times but it is still very good. Highly recommend trying this location for amazing hibachi.
