My boyfriend and I just went here tonight for dinner. He told them it was for my birthday when he called to make reservations. The server was great and the food was ok but we ultimately couldn't enjoy it. Chop House has always had 50% off for birthday dinners. It still says it does on the internet. Yet we weren't told until after the meal that it's been discontinued for years now. What?!? We each had two cosmos, an appetizer to split, two steaks, one side, and dessert to go. Yet with tip that came to $350!!! I'm sorry but that isn't ok. We never would have gone there if they had been upfront and told us they wouldn't honor the birthday discount (which I've utilized many years past). I just wanted a nice birthday dinner where I could dress up and enjoy a good atmosphere and good food. Now I'm sitting here sick to my stomach over how much overtime I'll have to work to make up for this disaster.

After so long we FINALLY decided to take a night for ourselves away from the kids. This was our first fine dinning experience at the highly anticipated Chop House in Charleston, WV. We received phenomenal service, and though the wait for our entrees was longer than expected, it was well worth the wait. I enjoyed the lamb chop lollipops with the BEAUTIFUL Beef Wellington, while my wife ordered the Rosemary Chicken. There were a few people that were making a lot of noise and distracting myself and my wife in the dining area, however they were also paying customers just trying to have a good time. I couldn’t have asked for a better night. Thank you for our lovely server that took care of us this evening! I hope to pay another visit soon!

Went here with my girlfriend last year on our trip to WV. Everything was great from the beef wellington to the half pound potato down to even the free popover breads. We also were seated in a private area which was really nice. Well worth the money and if ever in Charleston again will revisit !

This was my first experience at Chop House. I ordered the NY Strip, my wife and brother ordered filets, and my sister-in-law had the Chilean Sea Bass. Every entrée was excellent. We shared the dauphin potatoes and saute spinach and garlic. The French onion soup was some of the best I've ever tasted. The service was excellent.

The food was great and the customer service was top class. They can However improve on salt. My food was well cooked but very salty. Our server that night was simply amazing.

Profoundly overpriced. Food was acceptable however I feel any steak house is equally enjoyed. A soft drink, ceaser salad, 1/3 side dish, and a 15 Oz (bone weight included- & since when does NYS have bone, separate from T-bone?) NY strip steak tendered my personal check @ $93.96! ?

Just not what it used to be. The service has progressively trended downward the last couple of years. Tonight we even had to ask for rolls. The food is pretty good and when paired with the level of service they used to provide the price was still very steep but the experience itself was so special it made up for it. I don’t consider dining here special anymore so I won’t justify the cost.

On a Saturday night at 630pm, how does a steakhouse have no stakes? We were sat by a young, new server who was trying very hard so it wasn't her fault. However after we ordered our appetizers (which took a very long time), the oysters were not appealing and dry, which I have never seen. I sent them back and it was credited from my bill. Then when we went to place our order for 3 Cowboy steaks ($80 each) we were told the only steaks left were 6/8oz fliets. This place was losing serious money. In addition my one pour of a reposado tequila was $37! The meal cost $127 and was unappealing. I would avoid this place if your goal is fine dining.

We were on a mini vacation in Charleston WV and ended up staying downtown. Next door is a nice mall shopping area. Not a lot of stores, but several places to eat. This restaurant is very nice inside. We felt a little under dressed. The service was exceptional, and the wait staff took care of all our needs. I got the scallops with a leek reduction sauce. They were cooked perfectly, and sauce was delicious. My spouse got the crab cakes. They were over seasoned with not much meat, more bread than needed. The desserts were heavenly. I got the chocolate flourless cake. It was light and flavorful. My wife got the bread pudding. Again, it was delicious and had a perfect flavor and texture. We ended up coming back the next night to get the same two desserts again to go. The place is a bit pricey but the service is the top shelf. Hit or miss on the entrees, but dessert is impressive.
