“Absolutely awesome food - simple, fresh, healthy, filling, and very well done. Even if you’ve not tried Peruvian before, this place makes it approachable. Even those with American tastebuds will love it! The staff were extremely nice also.”
“We went for a hot dog and were pleasantly surprised to find this place. It seems it is a fairmont classic for hot dogs. The staff were friendly and we had the best hot dog of the day on our hot dog road trip! Just a heads up; it is cash only.”
“Atmosphere- 5 stars- this quant little eatery resides in an old building on the end of the Mid-City bridge located on the West side of Fairmont WV. The inside has been redone making it a modern yet cozy area decorated with photos of well known chefs and vines of white flowers accented with white lights strung on the wall. The place is super clean and offers a small area with deserts and bakery items.Service- 5 stars- Kevin was our waiter and he was friendly and very attentive.Food- 5 stars- they offer daily specials and a decent beer and wine list. I had the dirty rice with chicken, beef and hot peppers. It was awesome. It must be a popular dish because I saw many people ordering it. I also had the roasted red pepper chicken bisque for a starter and again it was delicious. My wife got the blackened chicken breast sandwich with Swiss cheese and a side of fries. She said it was one of the best chicken sandwiches she had ever had.I would highly recommend stopping here. From what I understand it’s get quite busy in the evenings. We went mid afternoon and beat the rush.Parking: Small side lot which when restaurant is busy could fill up fast however there is street parking in the area and it’s free.”
“Stopped by here for the first time today and it was delightful. I got a small honey cinnamon latte and it was sooo good-- nice and hot, well flavored, and served in the coolest compostable cup! I'll definitely be coming here again.”
“Decent pizza and a good taste. A bit much sauce, and I got the Deluxe Pizza. I was afraid the meatballs would be huge but they are not very big.Lots of room in the dining area for wheelchairs, well lit, and plenty of parking outside the door.”
“You've heard of hole-in-wall places, but this one is literally a door in the wall. You will question if more than 10 people can fit inside, but don't let that keep you out. The entrance way is a touch narrow, but once you pass the ordering area it opens up! Tables, comfy chairs, a group gathering space. Yep, all just past that tiny door. I found myself up that way last summer and of course I quickly sought out somewhere to enjoy quality coffee. In conversation with another artist, he mentioned Joe and upon seeing the Yelp photos I knew where I would be spending the next few hours. If you're a visitor like myself, know there is free parking at the end of the block (going downhill) on the left. Also, take the time to walk around the quaint downtown area. Now about Joe's. This is truly a coffee shop and bar in one. And since there's a full food menu, also a cafe. You will find something to eat and sip no matter what time of day. I of course ordered my go-to, an Americano. I settled into a chair with the vantage point of three people playing Monopoly, two others sketching, a couple flirting at the bar, and what appeared to be a family gathering taking place in the larger room. There are board games and books to borrow, local art on the wall for purchase, and plenty of cool Joe schwag to take home (including beans). The Americano was perfection in a cup. The bean, roast, and pull were some of the best you will find. About halfway through it, I saw someone with their house made cinnamon bun. Talk about envy in your heart! But alas I opted for a seasonal latte so I could take it and walk around the downtown. I know they've been around for a few years, and I hope they're around for many more.”
“We had a family gathering of 8 people for lunch on a Saturday. We were seated right away and immediately had our drink orders taken. All of us enjoyed our lunch choices, featuring fresh ingredients. I had the Mia Margherita small pizza. The sauce, cheese, and basil pesto had a mouthwatering flavor. We lingered well past when our food was finished, but didn't feel pressured to move along. (There were other tables open for arriving guests). Our waitress had to ask us a few times about who was on the same check. She was unfamiliar with glutein free available items, but went and asked. She did well otherwise.Dietary restrictions: They were able to accommodate 2 glutein free guests in our group.”
“I don't live in the area anymore but I get the opportunity a couple times a year to eat here. I absolutely love the asparagus salad. It's the best salad I have ever eaten. I normally get a main dish and an asparagus salad to go.”
“Great place to eat! Fast service. Tasty margaritas. We go about once a week. Several waiters always stop and say hello because they recognize us. Wonderful restaurant! Definitely recommend!”
“These people own El Ricon. So if you like them you’ll like this place. Has an outside setting area and a few different things on the menu. Their fried ice cream is amazing.Vegetarian options: Vegan fajitasParking: Good amount of parking.”
“Bring cash! Closed for the winter. They will reopen in Spring 2024! There is almost always a line to get ice cream and other treats at this local legend! Remember to BRING CASH! Dairy Creme Corner is a local institution! Their portions are absolutely insane! Try finishing a large ice cream cone! They closed for the winter season on October 8, 2023! They will reopen in Spring 2024.”
“This place is always fantastic! The waitresses are so sweet and the food is always delicious! We have went as a group of two and we have had as many as eight people and they never get anything wrong. We have never had to send anything back. Their rye bread and the homemade raisin bread are fantastic! I love that they have fresh cut fries! Salads are delicious as is the steak sandwich but eight times out of 10 we get a sampler for breakfast which leaves you filled for a great price! Highly recommend!”
“I enjoyed the meal. Not spectacular, but it was as good as it should be (I had the kielbasa, red potatoes and cabbage) and the chicken salad was pretty good too. Just a little disappointing that it was almost a paste consistency. The Fudge Cake was better than advertised. I would order it a dozen times over the Shoney’s fudge cake.If I come back to the area I’ll have to try a different dish. And maybe dine in, but as it is seat yourself, I didn’t want to take up a table by myself. If there’s no parking out front, it’s a good bet that the house is full and there are seats available for the wheelchair bound.”
“these desserts were a big hit at my wedding, all the variety of different things Megan makes are delicious! Needless to say nothing was left at the end of the night! Thanks so much again for making our wedding special with your desserts ❤️She was very easy to talk with and wanted to make sure everything was exactly what you wanted!”
“The hot dog game is competitive in Fairmont. These guys are ready to Stand toe to toe with legends. The guys behind the counter engaged each and every person. The welcoming nature of everyone was a nice touch. The dogs were spot on. I like my dogs spicy and when they say hot, these provided a kick.”
“My wife and I enjoyed the food. Drove up from SC to visit her father. You will get more food than you can eat. The owners were very hospitable and joked to flatten our tires so we could stay for dinner. Definitely going back on our next visit!!”
“Ok so I've been in WV with my family for about 3 years and this is the 1st deli in Fairmont we have found that has VEGAN !!!! Options. Yes the spicy tofu and the seasoned tofu sandwichs the best and on rye. Yes thank you again ?”
“Homestyle Italian cooking. Different special everyday and those specials do run out, especially the pepperoni rolls and pierogis. A case with meats, cheeses, salads, Italian sausage (ground or rope) that you can take home and cook yourself. Take out only. Very tasty. I try to stop at least once a month. They only take cash right now so keep that in mind.Vegetarian options: No veggie options that I am aware of.Parking: Smallish parking lot. Maybe 6-7 spots.Wheelchair accessibility: Have steps to get into the building.”
“Especially love I can take home a pint of my favorite so I can have a snacky snack at home ? Delicious, flavors always changing. Loved the Cherry for Halloween, and the tropical ? Delicious and courteous.”
“Hard to rate a place you've never been too but I regularly order pepperoni rolls from them, delicious absolutely love them and always fresh upon arrival in North Carolina definitely worth it .”
“First time visiting. White pizza is delicious! The sausage and steak hoagies were equally delicious. A lot of food for a great price. Definitely going again.”
“Recently made a stop to Short Story. Such a great place to visit. Food was delicious and my husband enjoyed his beer. The employees were super friendly while answering questions and having conversations. The area was clean and relaxing. I loved the merchandise options which included Christmas bulbs, drinking cups and beanies. Highly recommended!”
“Tried the lava dog and a reaper dog. Lava, should just order a hot hotdogs. Reaper got a nice heat to it.Kid-friendliness: Got a gumball machine for kids or big kids”
“It’s great, we ordered food to go and they put the ingredients in small containers (they are supposed to be on the fires btw) so our fires wouldn’t get soggy on the way home. They also have a new guy whose atmosphere and service is amazing. Their food is nicely priced and even an appetizer is fulfilling. I live nearby so I know what I’m talking about. :)”
“This bakery place is the best place I have visited. The staff is so courteous and helpful. The owner is wonderful. They also make special orders. Since I live in Farmington, I visit this business on a regular basis.”
“This is inside Rita's past the Rita's Service counter. They have grab and go salads, fruit, veggies and various dessert. Then they have a selection of all day Breakfast, paninis, and pepperoni rolls as well as classic fried apps fries, onion rings, fried green tomatoes, toasted ravioli and a few other items. I've been a few times for dessert only and it's always been good. They have an outside vendor- Shawnacakes bring in macarons and they are incredible although slightly expensive they are worth it. There homemade cookies are good as well. Pepperoni rolls are different but in a good way they have a nice thin crispy outer layer and then soft dough inside. The pepperoni is sliced possible deli pepperoni because it looks bigger than regular pepperoni. My only issue is that does take quite a bit of time during peak rush. When I was there I could tell people we're getting agitated by wait times but they ordered a lot of stuff at once. I would recommend calling in an order. The restaurant it's self does not have any seating but if you go go into the hallway, directly behind the checkout counter there is seating there.”
“This place has withstood the test of time here in WV and should be visited by anyone traveling through or vacationing. I have literally never had a bad experience in over 20 years and the food has always been top notch. Service and staff are polite, attentive and just as great as the food.”
“Wow, we have lived in Fairmont for a few years now but it’s taken us this long to order from here. Too much time wasted! This place is the absolute best. It’s everything you want from Chinese takeout and more. I had the general tso tofu and vegetable lo mein. The tofu was crispy, and the general tso sauce is the best I’ve had in years, I loved the spice to it. The vegetable lo mein was exactly right, cooked perfectly. The crab rangoons are probably the best in Fairmont and Whitehall, at least. Not to mention, everything was packaged perfectly - not a single missing sauce, side, soy sauce packets, napkin, etc. And for the price? You can’t beat it. 5 stars, this is our new takeout spot from now on.”
“Laid back atmosphere, enjoy some laughs and good company. Has A Few Lottery Machines, and good music.Parking: Street parking, or across the street in the bank parking lot or post office available after business hours. As well as a parking garage up the street not far from the entrance.Wheelchair accessibility: Accessible for wheelchairs”

“Prices are on the higher side but they are so busy taking orders and making food the wait times can be longer. The place is always clean, food is good but potions can be on the smaller side for the prices. The place is tiny both in the dining room, parking lot and where they make the food so more than 8, 10 people inside and you're elbow to elbow with others. They do give free pup cups that are little cups of vanilla ice cream with tiny milkbones in it but the last time I got my dogs one there weren't any bones which is fine, it's free.”
