Passing through Cottagevill my husband and I stopped for breakfast here. The atmosphere was great the service was awesome. Our server was upbeat and very funny. Thank you Melissa and David for your hospitality!!
I've stopped there many times throughout the years whenever I'm in the Ripley area. The Downtowner is currently owned by someone who grew up in the Smithers area, just like myself. The restaurant really has a down-home feel. Very comfortable and peaceful. It's kind of like a piece of Mayberry. Ample parking in front makes it convenient to get to. The food is delicious and not too pricey. Definitely worth a stop!

The downtowner has some darn good food. If your just passing through or lived here your whole life, you gotta try this restaurant. Now, the owner and his wife both work serving the customers and making the food, which is pretty cool. The man talks alot, so if you do stop here you'll be having plenty of good conversations.
