The entire resort is very dated, and this restaurant is no exception. We waited an hour for our food, only to leave after realizing that we hadn’t seen a single patron in the Sam Snead’s dining room be served in the entire hour that we were waiting.

Sam Snead's and Prime 44 West were our two favorite restaurants to dine at during our stay at the Greenbrier. Sam Snead's has more of a laid back pub type atmosphere with beautiful views of the golf course where Prime 44's is a little more formal. Our overall dining experience at Sam Snead's was excellent during our only visit. We had so much fun doing 4pm tea time in the lobby and then off to dinner!

Delightful meal - everything is made from scratch! Incredible service. Couldst have been a better meal! A little expensive, though, but worth it!

I don't know why everyone one here complains about the price of everything. I mean, you are at the Greenbrier, and everything has a little extra on it. With that being said...The food was absolutely amazing. My wife had the Filet Mignon, and it was melt in your mouth good. She had me try a piece of hers, and I knew immediately that I had picked the wrong plate of food. Lol. My Lamb was very good and was melt in your mouth as well... it wasn't close to the Filet, though. The dessert was over the top good. The chocolate cake with a scoop of ice cream on it with the caramel sauce drizzled over it... man, I have never had a better piece of cake and ice cream before.Needless to say, I was very happy with the food and the wait staff was on pair too. The overall experience was top-notch, and I would highly recommend it to anyone.

Ambience looks and smells like decaying old money. Too many colors, too many patterns, some chipping on the walls, pictures of old golfers and presidents that were crooked on the walls.Service was fantastic by the drink waiter, but our waitress was inattentive. She had to double check all our orders, got our room numbers before the meal, was clearly annoyed we wanted dessert. The bread was cold and a little stale. The mushroom soup had maybe 4 slices of baby portabella and had no salt or pepper in it. The lobster Mac & cheese had 5 little pieces of lobster meat. Pasta at least was cooked Al dente and had plenty of cheese sauce, but honestly nothing to write home about. And again, there is a resort fee, a historical fee and an automatic 20% gratuity!!! Do not recommend.

The wait staff was professional, but not friendly. It had a nice view of golf course and driving range. The food was overpriced and not great . $75 for a chicken sandwich and a wrap and 2 cokes. Save your money and eat in town where there is a better selection.

Our entrees at Sam Snead’s while staying at the Greenbrier were fabulous. The staff is also over the top great! We had both a dinner and a lunch there. The lunch hotdog is 1 pound. Order one for two people. :)

Had lunch here as part of a cross country bus tour after completing a bunker tour. Arrived around 1230 & seated in dining area with a direct window view of hole #18 on the “Old White” course. Restaurant located in club house. Service was phenomenal during our stay. We started with a Caesar salad, then the main course of a “slammin’ sammy burger” & cake made from a recipe belonging to Jerry West’s wife. Salad was delicious. Burger was huge in size & dressed with appropriate condiments. Cake was delicious and wish I could tell you more about it. I’d recommend this as a place for sure to grab a bite during a Greenbrier visit.

Had fabulous service and a fabulous dinner! I was worried about trying Sam Snead’s due to some unfavorable reviews but when I dinned everything was amazing! We started with the bread service which was very tasty. The ribeye steak was delicious as was the peach margaritas. Service was exceptional! I will return!!

This place was fine. I was hoping for a little more at the Greenbrier to be honest. The service was good but they seemed understaffed over the summer. The food took a while to be served and it was just okay when it showed up. We were able to sit and look over a part of the golf course which is a nice view. Basically, eat here if you're heading to or coming back from the golf course. Otherwise, I'm sure there is better dining on property.

My family and I would agree that, overall, this place was mediocre with points lost for service. The food itself was rather generic. Popular items such as the fried chicken were comparable to fast food albeit at a higher price point with smaller portions. It is my impression that, aside from a handful of "favorite" dishes, most menu items are not made with much care or pride. The mushroom risotto exemplified this, as it seemed to be a placeholder item on the menu and made from a box recipe. In terms of service, there seems to be a lack of communication between wait staff and the kitchen. Courses took in excess of 20 minutes to come out and, after we would ask, the server could at best guess the remaining wait time required by an unpredictable kitchen. There also seemed to be an overall inflexibility of policy when faced with the task of meeting guest needs. Despite the fact that we ate in one of two conjoined restaurants sharing the same kitchen, we were refused the option to order a dish from the other room's menu. This made it so that two members of our group actually had to move from our table to the other section to order food for a special needs member of the party. We love the Greenbrier and enjoy returning each year but this experience left a bad taste in our mouths. It would be worth it to check out the many other dining options on and off the hotel property.

Food was ok but over priced. After spending over $100 per person, we were left unsatisfied with our experience. Portions were small. Orders were mistaken. Sent 3 main orders (of 6) back for over cooking. Appetizers were wrong. Lobster Mac and cheese ($27) is not a sharable side and contains very little lobster.
