“Highly recommended by locals and it didn’t disappoint. I enjoy sours and that’s what brought me here. The large selection of beers is fantastic! I enjoyed a flight of 5 different beers and the bartender gave me a taste of a seasonal one to boot. I was visiting from Alabama for the weekend and I am so glad I was directed to this brewery! The area had great shopping too. Cool local stores nearby.“

“This is the place to go for sour beers. We ordered a bunch of 2oz pours and tried everything. The Bruschetta was unique and awesome. Risotto was great. They have a huge bottle list and sell lots of things in cans. The service was spot on and the location was great. We will be back.“
“Drink a tasty micro-brew as you watch the sunset. Huge tap list. if you like Hazy IPA, try out ‘Glow Stick’. The Korean Chicken Wings can be hit or miss. When it’s a hit, they’re tasty. The bruschetta and brussels are excellent choices as well. When the weather is nice, the outside seating is a must.Last night (Thursday) they had an outstanding acoustic guitar player singing all your favorite mellow covers. The music filled the space, while not overtaking it, so you could still have a conversation.Pro-tip: If you’re coming from the east side of the train tracks, and you don’t want to get stuck in your car for a full hour, use Powell Blvd and you avoid the tracks!!“

“The food is expensive. The basic burger is very basic -- just meat, cheese, bread, and sauce -- for $16. Visited for Sandwich Week 2024 and their pulled pork was fantastic. The beers are usually solid contenders with other local Portland beers.“

“Audio note: Weird pounding upstairs. Good music, spacious dining area, unique taps, and good pizza. Food took a little longer because there was a meeting happening in a separate room. But worth the wait. Very good. Service was good. Server checked on us often. Made sure we were taken care of. Played vinyl records for music. Vinyl records are also for sale. Environment wasn't super loud. Bright and sunny inside. Parking can be a little tough but in a nice neighborhood. This all happened on a Friday afternoon.“
“We received excellent service at both locations we visited. This one was by far the best one we’ve been to out of both of them. Our bartender was amazing and on top of everything. I wish I got his name to give a shout out. He went absolutely above and beyond. We try to visit Vancouver every year, so we will definitely have to make a stop here on our way home. We love Great Notion. We’ve never been disappointed. We always get a few to take home with us. I’m a bit late to make a review of here, but I’m quite literally drinking Blueberry Muffin and it reminded me to do so.“
“Showed up late in the evening again, barely making last call. It was empty but had a good conversation with the only other customer and staff. Only had the Japanese lager in keeping with my final last days in Portland, no more hopps for awhile. They also had an MKIII in the corner I didn't get a chance to feed. Worth a trip if in the area“

“Cute little spot to grab a cocktail mixed excellently by such a friendly bartender. Everyone here was welcoming and so nice. The food came out pretty quick and looked amazing. I got the ox tail cheese steak sandwich with fries. The only thing I wasn't a fan of was that the cost of the meal didn't include fries. It was 16 bucks and 3 dollars more for fries. Other than thati would go again and take advantage of the happy hour pricing from 4pm-6pm.“

“Been here a couple times and I am consistently pleased with the service, value and quality. I’ve drank break side beers for a long time. Coming into their establishment it is so light and airy and welcoming. The staff is very friendly and the environment is lofty, airy and bright. Their beer fails to disappoint and each time I’ve come in the food is a perfect balance of pub food and class. Comfort dishes made with care. Their waffle fries are so nicely crisp on the outside with that smooth, mashed potato feel inside. The cubano was wonderful. Hard crust with soft, fall apart pork and crunchy house pickles with chipotle mayo for that subtle smoky heat. My partner ordered the beer and burger special and even a simple burger with a couple little add on was cooked well and seasoned properly. I could go on but I sure do enjoy coming here.“

“I don't go to this place often, but I do like it. And it's a great place to have a celebration as you can rent part of the bar. Food is a bit expensive. Stay away from the $12 salad. Beer prices and selection are reasonable. I would go back again.“

“Bar food for delivery? Absolutely! I was craving a good salad and onion rings. After a little searching I found backwoods. Let's just say I wasn't disappointed. I got their Chicken Caesar salad. Fresh and Del. Sounds ordinary but with walnuts and cranberries it was awesome. Their dressing is delicious. The onion rings were some of the best I've ever had. BBQ sauce on the side made it even better.“
“Staff is always friendly. They have some pretty decent salads. I'm GF so the food selection is limited but the kale salad is solid, and have good ciders available. The bathroom next to the kitchen was amazingly warm and cozy when we went during the ice/snow storm. 10/10 would pee there again.“

“Fantastic brews! So good that I had to order some bottles to go. Service was awesome. Our order was taken promptly, set up with condiments and silverware, food came out timely. A real chill and relaxed setting to enjoy some beers. The sandwich wasn't my favorite but I was there for the brews which exceeded expectations so no complaints.“

“Wow! We dined in tonight for the first time and I left stuffed! We order the Brussels and humus platter for starts. SO Delicious! I honestly can't remember the last time I had anything with that much flavor. We both had the cheeseburger and the homemade pickles were to die for! Not to mention the side salad that was HUGE and DELICIOUS oh and don't forget the brioche bun the cheeseburger came on. SO SOFT!!! Buttery!“
“Cool little warehouse location with his staff that is super friendly and helpful. Street parking is available. There's a fire pit outside which is cool.We came for some food after checking out Hopscotch. I ordered up the chicken sandwich which came with fries. My friend had the BLTA with fries. Both orders came out quickly, and the fries were perfectly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Yum! My chicken sandwich came on a nice soft bun with garlic aïoli, bacon, tomato, onion and was absolutely delicious. Love the high ceilings in the warehouse feel. Lots of space and there's games to play if you like. Keep up the good work we'll be back!“

“Good rooftop beer bar. Great service, but significantly understaffed for a sunny Friday afternoon. I ordered a turkey sandwich and an Sight of Science IPA. Neither were great, but that's on me. I would have been better off with a Portland salad and a hazy. Fries were good.“
“Wonderful food, decent beer, rustic atmosphere. My partner is gluten free so just the fact that everything at Ground Breaker is GF meant we had to check it out.We had a flight of beer, tried a Papusa, and had chicken strips and fish and chips. The food was top notch, all hot and very fresh. So good! And the beer was fun to try, but just not to my preference. Still fine. The reason for 4 over 5 stars is that I like a little more service. This place is minimal, you need a phone to order... no menus, you scan the QR code. And you gotta go to the bar to order a beer. Bus your own table. Pay on your phone. Get your own fork and napkins, and water. The employees were nice. Just be ready for this kind of do it yourself set up when you go.“

“I'm not a beer drinker... so I skipped this place for way too long.... Don't make the same mistake I made. The pizzas are a-maz-ing! Great interior with plenty of outside seating on these perfect summer/autumn days. We've always enjoyed good service .... Friendly staff.... Great location in MLK (for us anyway!)“

“A favorite spot in Portland! Delicious beer selection, with flights available. Cans to-go and the can art is one-of-a-kind. Having Cache Cache in the back and all the amazing food carts right outside at Lil America is so great. You can take any of the food into the bar or any of the drinks out to the patio area. Plus, dog friendly! They're always having fun events like pop-ups, themed drinks, and big parties outside. Staff is amazing and so friendly too.“

“Solid beer (I tried the kolsch which was crisp and refreshing). Spacious interior. On-site and street parking were both plentiful on an early Sunday afternoon. Super friendly staff and excellent, fast service! They checked on me throughout my stay and made me feel very welcomed.Takeout wasn't available for a whole pie of their pizza week special (Butcher's Bolognese) but I think it is for their standard pies. Not a big deal - I dined in and ate a couple slices so my partner, who wasn't with me, could also try it later. Great flavors. I do prefer a saltier cheese to really maximize that Detroit-style approach, but am glad to have tried out Assembly Brewing.I'll be back with friends for more bites and brews!“

“Another cozy and unique theater! This building is artwork. Everywhere you look there's something that catches the eye. There's a restaurant attached to it as well so you can get food delivered to you while you watch the movie if you didn't grab any before hand. If you do this option you'll have to sit up stairs. It's fun though especially if you get the seats right at the edge. P.S. there is a restroom on this floor, if you are looking at the screen its on the right hand side.I love their popcorn, pretzels w/ cheese sauce and a pitcher of cider. They usually have three options to choose from.Every time I go, people are pleasant and it's a joy to talk to them.Side note: If you haven't been to McMenamins locations before all the ones I've been to are so much fun. So much detail goes into their spaces and it's always an adventure.I can't wait till next time.Cheers ?“

“Fun place for a pint and some pub food. The double smash burger went down a little too easily for me but it was really solid. Beer is always solid but I'd like another WC IPA option but that's just my preference. Pipe wrench has held up for years and still is special for me. My wife and I will be back.“
“This is a nice neighborhood pub. There is ample indoor and outdoor seating. There are two small couch seats near the bar.The staff was friendly and helpful. Bussing was a bit slow. There is a food truck on site if you want more than drinks. There is a friendly resident cat who has the run of the pub including the bar counter top.The pub is also dog friendly. There are gas fire pits to keep warm around at night. There are many alcohol drink and non-alcohol drink options. The pub is cozy and well maintained.“

“Dropped in for a very quick lunch before hitting Powell's up. I had just flown in and was starving. I had a soup salad combo that was delicious. The place was so beautiful with all the wood work. The service was fast and friendly. No complaints from myself.“
“Excellent Coffee Tour. The gentleman that did the tour was extremely knowledgeable about all things coffee. It was easy to follow the things that he said and we were able to sample the Sumatra and Kenya blends. I Love That Mcmenamins makes the extra effort to make sure they are working with fair trade brands and no chemicals. Its so cool to learn about the ends and outs of roasting the beans and the formulas they have to follow. I had no idea all that went into making an awesome cup of coffee.“

“Found this place through a car show they hosted. The atmosphere is good, great music, darts and good beers. The pizza is amazing, we had to come back and get some for dinner because we had just eaten lunch before we got there.Because of the car show they were out of most of their items and it took a while to get served (probably plan better next time)Definitely enjoy this place and would go back.“

“Can’t go wrong with the Schilling ciders-I was not a hard cider fan until trying theirs! No shortage of ciders to try from the PNW and ordering a flight is the way to go. Truly appreciate the freshness, lack of artificial sweeteners and no preservatives. Staff were extremely friendly as well.“

“Great spot! Short walk from our hotel and a nice walk too. No transient people walking around or lurking in the dark. Love that you can bring well behaved dogs! Big and open space so relax, dine and have a cold beer. OMG the portion sizes are HUGE! I could not finish the Rueben sandwich I ordered. It was delicious, I ate half and saved the other half. It came with a side salad which was full of leafy greens, cucumbers, tomatoes and croutons. Their ranch dressing was on point as well. We got 4 cans of beer to go. We will definitely be back and highly recommend you check out this place.“

“One of favorite breweries. A hidden jewel of the Portland beer scene. High quality beer in a wide variety of traditional styles and some innovations. Chill and friendly vibe. Dog friendly. Worth going off the beaten path to have a pint or two.“
