“My daughter and I dined at 530pm yesterday, May 24th 2025. We chose to sit in the dining room. We were lead to a table by the fireplace under a great chandelier. The ambiance of Joey Crowfoot is lively and warm. Comfortable seating, perfectly sized tables, and excellent lighting. Our server, whose name I can't recall - tall dark and handsome and a theater major - was attentive and friendly. The food we had was absolutely incredible. We chose goyza dumplings to start which were so flavourful and perfectly cooked. My daughter ordered the hamburger and fries and even with her braces bothering her, she demolished. My blackened chicken with warm potato salad was hands down the BEST meal I've had in a restaurant in a long, long time. I will be dreaming of that salad until I can get back there again !!“

When spending so much money on everything to do with a wedding it can add up and you want to make sure the value is there and that you’re not over spending on one thing vs. another. They made sure that as costs added up for us elsewhere we really saw the value while still getting an elite, exceptional, beyond compare venue that just took care of nearly everything. My wife and I live busy lives and had a baby shortly after our wedding and have repeatedly told each other since the wedding we truly owe it to the restaurant to make sure we sit down, take time and praise how truly happy we were with our experience in a review so that everyone knows and we can hopefully give them some extra business and help others have as spectacular an experience as us. Since our time there many of our guests have shared how much they loved the experience there and said that they could not think of a better place to have a wedding venue. We do live out of town so we do t get to go back as often as we’d like but our anniversary is just around the corner and we’re very excited to go back to The Lake House to enjoy this day as well. “We have been to this Cactus Club lots of enjoyable times. We therefore decided to go there for our 54th wedding anniversary last Wednesday. Food was prompt and excellent and the manager arranged for a welcome drink of prosecco. Nice touch. “Amazing date night Notable Restaurant My husband and I went on a flavor vacation tonight at Notable, and the first stop was the Embered Oysters. O. M. G. These little beauties left us speechless. They were baked in rich chili garlic butter, with delicate ribbons of spinach. We then both ordered the tenderloin. My husband went for a side of the baked potato, but this wasn’t your average russet with a dollop of sour cream…this was a big, glorious red-skinned potato loaded with house-made sour cream and a bacon vinaigrette that should be its own food group. Every bite was salty, creamy, buttery perfection. He added a horseradish sauce, which was less like the nose-tingling stuff you think of and more like a gravy-meets-horseradish situation. Paired well with anything it touches. I went for the potato gratin, which was life-changing. It was like biting into a cheesy, salty, melt-in-your-mouth potato cloud with the most perfect crusted cheese top. We also ordered the half lobster (flavourfully baked and fell out of the shell) and the beets…which I loved the first couple bites however, I like the earthy taste highlighted and they were glazed in a blueberry maple glaze that was a bit too sweet for me…perfect for my husband. He happily finished them off while I went back to my cheesy cloud. By the end of the night, we were already planning our next visit because our taste buds are basically addicted now. And shoutout to Ashley, our server, who was attentive, hilarious, and the cherry on top of a perfect dinner.“

“In line with the restaurant, I’ve structured to 8 points of my dining experience. 1. RESERVATIONS & GETTING THERE If you’re very lucky you can get a reservation. Watch out for their announcement/s at Instagram and book at TOCK. I got mine in November 2021 for February 2022 dinner. Chef Darren shared that in the latest offering, 36,000 people went in and it sold out in 30 seconds. You will receive an email for dining reservations and included are instructions how to get to Eight. Located at ALT hotel at East Village in Calgary, Alberta. Complimentary underground parking. Be early, reception will send you at NUPO bar before you’ll be invited over to the secret door leading to your seat. 2. FOOD There are no words to describe the gastronomical experience this 15-course dinner (with snacks) offered. All the superlatives can be used. Fall in love with the plethora of Canadian ingredients married into the greatness Chef Darren’s mind. Well intentioned sourcing of fresh local, farm owned ingredients in your plate. Each made great with time whether it’s the reclaimed dairy cow’s beef, cured bacon goodness — it’s clear! (yum) and rich chicken broth. From east to west ingredients, indulge in what each coast brings through texture, colour and scents. It’s a win after win, one plate, one bowl at a time. 3. PAIRINGS Truly recommended to take it! As serendipity has it, it was Season 8 and Eight’s 2nd anniversary. The last pairing of Espresso, Licor 43 was replaced by a Ruinart Blanc de Blanc to celebrate with Chef Darren and his staff. Lucky! 4. AMBIENCE Low light, one bulb overhead per person highlights the food in front of you. Across is a marbled island where the action happens. It’s a cozy distance to chat with other guests to your side and still well-spaced to enjoy your spot (and your date!) Leather bar seats, metal backing art at the corner adds to the mystery feel of the eluded box. 5. STORY TELLING This is a vital part of the dining experience. Chef Darren walks through the history of ingredients and how he came up with the course. Very interesting, heartwarming and funny stories to hear. 6. SYMPHONY The smooth flow of chef, assistants and server movements : cooking, plating, serving timing, wine glass replacement and bread offering is a flawless operations at an optimum (small) space. It is a feat. 7. CERAMICS The handmade, locally made plate counts. The 24 Karat lined cup and the stacked bowl of snacks counts. It’s beautiful. Hello Quinspired Ceramics ✨ 8. You are given a small folder, tucked in is the menu + pairing details. Inside the folder is poignant essay of Chef Darren’s thoughts how the Canadian Reflection Menu came about. Take it as poetry! A map of Canada is inserted and handwritten in each province were ingredients used that night. Overall, this was a great experience. Calgary is lucky to have Eight. Well done! Bravo Chef Darren! “We arrived at 6pm for our reservation and were immediately greeted by our very efficient server Nikita. She was attentive without being overbearing the whole time we were there. We started with the hummus. It was really delicious. Two of us don't eat wheat and were delivered fresh veg on individual plates. Nice touch. All of us thoroughly enjoyed our meals. One had the chicken, one had the fish of the day, lobster risotto topped with prawns, and one had the duck breast. All excellent. We shared a bottle of Chablis which was very nice. All in all an excellent experience. Thanks!“

“We have been coming to Oscar's for over a decade. Consistently good food. Dry ribs are excellent. Delicious flame grilled burgers. I had the steak sandwich tonight. Perfect. Living in BC now so i really needed a good piece of Alberta Beef . You will find it here and as it is off the hot flaming grill from Wellingtons with which it shares a kitchen it was good enough to rival Caesar's and Hy's Steakhouses. I have no problem travelling 800 km to eat here.“

“We stopped by the Wednesday Room for a light meal recently and loved the experience completely. We were met by the host who immediately escorted us to the table we requested. As he seated us, the host outlined the menu organization so we could navigate it easier. After we were seated, Gabby our waitress arrived to go over the menu and drinks options with us. It made ordering easy and efficient. Our food and drinks order arrived on a very timely basis. The food was wonderfully presented. Both of our dishes were very tasty with subtle, unique flavors made in-house (oysters and beef carpaccio were our choices). When it was time to check out, Gabby made the process very efficient and with friendly banter leaving us smiling for the rest of the evening. All the staff we were involved with seemed to be happy and very personable - a drastic change from the plastic, mechanical service we usually experience. “It was a perfect breakfast for the three of us before we dropped out daughter off at the airport. I had my traditional two eggs over easy with toast sausage and bacon. The two others had some wonderful eggs-benny. My eggs were perfect, the toast was perfect, the bacon was crispy, and the sausages were spicy and succulent, making for a delicious meal. Arlene was wonderful throughout the whole meal so thanks to her especially!“

The food was amazing the cocktails were creative and very well crafted. Both the chef and bartender were on point. We worked on a styled shoot together earlier this year and it was an absolute BLAST. From working with our models for the session, to collecting items from vendors, working with booked clients following the styled shoot, AND the group of us photographers trading images of both Behind-the-scenes action, as well as styled and posed shots, she never fell short. Her style is beautiful and unique, her direction when shooting is on point, and her passion runs deep. “Loved the penne noodles in pesto sauce with chicken and the noodle bowl with shrimp. The steak sandwich was served as 2 taco style sandwiches. One taco was a full chunk of meat-which was hard to bite into while the other taco was in steak pieces which was easier to eat. Probably would not order this again! Nice touch to give theatre goers a dessert for free but it was quite noisy with the amount of people for the pre theatre crowd“

“We made a reservation for the latest possible time, and since I booked it two months in advance, I requested a comfortable table. When we arrived, the hostess seated us in an inconvenient spot. I asked for a table by the window, but she said there were none available and explained that they have a “first come, first served” policy for the best tables, so she couldn't offer us another option. At that moment, there were three empty tables by the window. One of them was later given to guests who arrived after us, and the other two remained empty until closing. This situation slightly spoiled our overall impression. That said, our server was absolutely wonderful — very pleasant and attentive. Our table was always clean, and he stayed attentive even despite how busy it was. He provided excellent service. The food was simply incredible; the kitchen team did an outstanding job. You can see that for yourself in the photos I took.“

We were there for dinner with Deb's granddaughters on Friday, August 12th and from the moment we entered the lovely young ladies that were hostessing engaged in conversation with us and made a special point of singling out the little girls - aged 2 and 6. Also, our waitress Janelle was charming and not only was the service prompt, the food was delicious and she as well, conversed with the young ones.
