The vintage building, the sensational food, the scrumptious drinks, and the phantasmagorical service all make Charbar special. If you get a chance to get up on that rooftop patio, it is a complete game changer. In short, Charbar is charming. Get down there if you like some of the best the calgary culinary scene has to offer.

Food taste great! Too expensive for the portions, with what I spend I would’ve gone to HY’s have ing better food portions and top of the line atmosphere! Food was 90’minutes late since the moment we ordered! We order 2 steaks and. A salad, how hard is to cook and prepare. Restaurant was busy but not crazy! I would me Berber get back again!

Our program held Volunteer Appreciation event at the Charbar. The staff was very helpful in guiding us through the process of planning the event and very creative in suggesting the choices that were affordable for our budget. The event was great, everyone enjoyed the quality of the food and the interesting choices. Presentation was great and the servers were very welcoming.Vegetarian options: There was great selection of vegetarian choices.Dietary restrictions: They were very accommodating to find different options.

ate there this weekend, the food was great and came out quickly. fantastic service, Mark was the server, he was extremely personable and attentive. really impressed. i highly recommend the argentinian shrimp!

The cocktails were excellent and overall the food was pretty good with the standout dish being the blistered provoleta cheese with chimichurri. My wife really enjoyed her steak as it was cooked perfectly rare for her. My pork steak was just okay. The fires were super fresh and seasoned well.We had an unfortunate misunderstanding with our server that really threw a wrench in the enjoyment but the restaurant cleared up the confusion afterwards.I will also add that the chair I sat in was easily the most uncomfortable chair I have experienced at any restaurant.Overall a decent experience but not a destination I would purposefully seek out in the future.

Food : great French fries that were properly double-fried probably in beef tallow. Grilled octopus was tender and delicious. Burger was unfortunately dry and hard, suggesting over-worked industrial frozen patty. Service : it took a long time for the burgers to be served so wondering if they also sat on the grill way too long. Also took a while to get the wine and the bill.

We weren't very impressed with our experience today, which was surprising, as we usually really enjoy Charbar. The food service was extremely slow. It took us 35 minutes to get our food, which was very long for a salad, small steak and fries. The fries also arrived about five minutes after the other items. We also found it difficult to get the attention of our server, as she wasn't readily available, even though the restaurant was not busy at all. We noticed two other groups of diners complaining, so I think something was amiss today.

We had Mark as a server and he was excellent, efficient and humorous! He really enhanced our dining experience! The food was great! We had the delicious burgers with avocado! Thanks for a great afternoon out!

Went for dinner. Have nothing but good things to say. Found the steaks to have a more of a smoke flavour this time which was amazing for me. Even the charred bread had a bit of a smoke flavour. The sides were delicious, can never go wrong with the ceviche and avocado spread. Service was amazing, staff was very friendly. Over the years, this place has been one fo my favourite spots in Calgary. They also make some pretty fine pisco sours.Vegetarian options: Side dishes could be an entree themselves.Parking: Currently construction going on the street but a 1min walk to a parking lot with plenty of space.

Enjoyed family dinner in this beautiful restaurant. Our server Souhail was so personable and attentive. And the food, well, let's just say my husband who struggles with vegetables had second servings of the eggplant and squash dishes! Will definitely return!

Been here before, however, tonight, it missed expectations, which was unfortunate as I bought a date there. Everything seemed slow tonight, from the service and especially the food. Not sure if they were understaffed or something. Took a while to get our starter order and they were fine, albeit a little slow to come out. The main course took much too long to come out, I think it took over 30m to 40m. When they did come out, my date's Ceviche was really good, however, my M/MR New York came out over-cooked to MW to well done and it was impossible to finish. It was hard to eat and dry. Since I was hungry I went through half of it and the server never came to check to see how it was and I had to wave him down to comment about it. Afterwards, I commented that it was the first time in over 5+ years that I didn't finish a steak. They did look at the steak and agreed that it was much over cooked. They did offer to make a new one, however, I didn't want to wait again based on how long it took the first time and would have been rude of me to make my date wait. We thought about dessert and decided against it. They gave 10% off the steak on the bill, however, since I didn't even finish it to begin with, I felt things from the beginning to end was lacking.
