Last year I dined here for my birthday and when the thought of what to do rolled around this year, flying to Calgary seemed both extra, and hilarious. But it stuck. Saltlik, you outdid yourself. I’ve been thinking of the Beeswax Old Fashioned for 366 days and it just hits the spot. Victoria B.C. hasn’t latched onto it yet but it’ll come. Dinner was exceptional but the real star or the show was Trevor. Exceptional service is becoming an almost lost art and this guy has it. His energetic read on the table and tailored charisma is what 90s career servers were made of. The kind of server who questions himself “how do I elevate this experience?!” And then executes. His tag team with Chris to make this birthday nothing short of Calgary perfection is exactly why we ended up here. Thank you for making us feel special, our dinner incredible and leaving us with yet another Saltlik memory for the books. Thanks over many thanks. We will see you again!“

“Just when you think they can't raise their game any higher Hy's manages to find a way. We attended the Calgary locations 10th Anniversary Celebration on Sept 26th and it was spectacular. The event was flawlessly organized and orchestrated by the Hy's team, the food was next level even by Hy's standards and the service exceeded anything we have experienced anywhere in North America even in the finest hotels. Bryant Olender added a classic background with piano and vocal stylings that perfectly suited the atmosphere. It was certainly the best evening we have at Hy's over the last decade, and I don't think I'm overstating it to say it was a "Once in a Lifetime" experience. A huge thankyou to Barb and the entire Hy's team!“

Now getting to the food, it’s amazing!! I love just about everything I ordered. Make sure to get the salmon rolls, potato pavel, and their vanilla gelato. For steak, I got the fillet 8oz and that was a very well seasoned steak. I was absolutely full from everything I just ordered. And it was a very much a money well spent. “I made a reservation for the Father’s Day dinner with Modern Steak last night and was honestly a little nervous bringing my kids; especially my 3 year old with complex allergies. This was the first time dining in a more upscale restaurant where my son hasn’t been relegated to a plate of fries or a bowl or rice. I can’t fully express how incredible it was to have delicious and healthy options for my son - this was the first time where he’s been able to have a starter, main and dessert that met all his allergy needs. Keep being awesome Modern!“

“We went there for our 36 wedding anniversary. The hostess was wonderful at seating us and our waiter was hilarious telling us jokes. I had the ribeye steak and it was cooked to perfection. My wife had the leg of lamb and it was also cooked to perfection. We enjoyed the twice baked mashed potatoes, fully loaded with sour cream, chives, and bacon bits. We also enjoyed their Caesar. For dessert, we shared the homemade chocolate brownie with marshmallow topping. I would highly recommend this restaurant.“

“At first glance this sink looks like it would be a nightmare to pee in, but I’m pleased to report that it is an absolute delight. The low height makes it more accessible than it looks and the basin has wonderfully musical acoustic properties. I would not only return for the stellar service and food, but also this majestic sink to urinate in!“
