“My second time in Calgary was nothing short of perfection. Last year I dined here for my birthday and when the thought of what to do rolled around this year, flying to Calgary seemed both extra, and hilarious. But it stuck. Saltlik, you outdid yourself. I’ve been thinking of the Beeswax Old Fashioned for 366 days and it just hits the spot. Victoria B.C. hasn’t latched onto it yet but it’ll come. Dinner was exceptional but the real star or the show was Trevor. Exceptional service is becoming an almost lost art and this guy has it. His energetic read on the table and tailored charisma is what 90s career servers were made of. The kind of server who questions himself “how do I elevate this experience?!” And then executes. His tag team with Chris to make this birthday nothing short of Calgary perfection is exactly why we ended up here. Thank you for making us feel special, our dinner incredible and leaving us with yet another Saltlik memory for the books. Thanks over many thanks. We will see you again!“

“Just when you think they can't raise their game any higher Hy's manages to find a way. We attended the Calgary locations 10th Anniversary Celebration on Sept 26th and it was spectacular. The event was flawlessly organized and orchestrated by the Hy's team, the food was next level even by Hy's standards and the service exceeded anything we have experienced anywhere in North America even in the finest hotels. Bryant Olender added a classic background with piano and vocal stylings that perfectly suited the atmosphere. It was certainly the best evening we have at Hy's over the last decade, and I don't think I'm overstating it to say it was a "Once in a Lifetime" experience. A huge thankyou to Barb and the entire Hy's team!“

“Went with my husband for our first anniversary, I cannot say enough good things about this place! We were given a hand signed card, complimentary bubbly upon arrival, incredible service by all the staff (shout out to our server Tess, you were awesome), delicious food (get the mashed potatoes) and a complimentary dessert. The DJ set the perfect mood too. Everything here was incredible!“

“Aug 21st. I had booked a small party of 5 on the lounge side to celebrate my friend upcoming wedding. One of the ladies had brought her baby. Totally not remembering the lounge is only for guest aging 18 and up. The receptionist informed us due to us having a baby we could not eat on the lounge side, but we could eat in the dining area. However the dining area was fully book!

She didn't want us to leave, and ran to get her manager! The manager flew in and saved the day for us! He made space for us and made sure we had a beautiful, and private dinner! The server we had was friendly and overall the best!

For something that I screwed up during booking, they swooped in and fixed the mess. Never pointing blame or giving up on us, and ensuring the bride had a lovely time! One of the BEST customer services I have ever encountered! The food was divine! I fully recommend this place!

“Absolutely delightful. One of the best steak houses I've been to in awhile. Staff was caring and helpful. Food was amazing and quite filling. We had French onion soup, baked brie, fresh oysters, the NY striploin, and the Ribeye. All were 10/10. I'm definitely going to come again and recommend this place to my friends. I would absolutely make this my new go to restaurant when wanting some comfort food.“

“I made a reservation for the Father’s Day dinner with Modern Steak last night and was honestly a little nervous bringing my kids; especially my 3 year old with complex allergies. This was the first time dining in a more upscale restaurant where my son hasn’t been relegated to a plate of fries or a bowl or rice. I can’t fully express how incredible it was to have delicious and healthy options for my son - this was the first time where he’s been able to have a starter, main and dessert that met all his allergy needs. “Very busy restaurant. Came here cause we were staying at a hotel within walking distance. Was kinda a Keg vibe. I had Mediterranean chicken. It was over cooked. Was suppose to have a dill sauce and tasted nothing like dill. Just a white sauce that lacked flavour. Rice seemed like it came out of a bag. Veggies good. Hubby had the baby back ribs with twice baked potato with all the toppings. He was happy. Wine was expensive. Had a lounge and restaurant side.
I’m sure the steaks may of been great. But probably wouldn’t go back.“

“We went to Modern Ocean for my husband’s birthday yesterday. We have been waiting to try this restaurant for quite a while. To say this experience was amazing, would be an understatement. From the atmosphere, to the staff, to the food, it was all incredible. Madison was our server and she was inviting, warm, and knowledgeable about the menu. She was so great! We had an amazing night and we will absolutely be back. 110% across the board!“

“We had an incredibly overworked (they were short staffed this night) waiter who was very pleasant and friendly, and professional. The food was delicious. We were first timers to Smugglers and really enjoyed our food. My only ‘complaint' would be is that they need to make the outside of their door more welcoming. As we had never been to Smugglers, we weren't sure where the main door was.“
