“My partner and I tried the temaki omakase for dinner. There are ten courses: four appetizers, five temaki and dessert. The service was delightful and attentive. The sashimi was fresh and the temaki were high quality and artfully prepared. We also tried yellowtail nigiri, scallop nigiri and sablefish nigiri, which were all fresh and expertly prepared. As it is in Avenida Food Hall, don’t expect to be in an upscale and quiet dining room. It is perfect for those, like us, who appreciate good food in a simple and casual setting. We would recommend!“

“This mall might not have anything great, this incredible spot that serves the most delicious sushi you’ll find in Calgary. Everything is super fresh they make plenty each day and the deal is unbeatable: buy one for around $8 and get the second for just $1. It’s such an amazing offer for their customers, and they’re probably not even making much profit from it. I’ve been coming here three times a week, and it’s been amazing!“

Absolutely fantastic! The food at Kimu is several levels above the popular chain sushi places we had been going before.

The portions were larger than expected, the freshness is very palpable, and the presentation is very pleasing to the eyes and mouth!

The staff were exceedingly friendly, courteous, and helpful.

If you are interested in excellent sushi and sashimi, Kimu is the place to go.

UPDATE: As appears to often be the case, many establishments can be hit and miss. NOT the case here. Our third visit is excellent on every level. My distended abdomen speaks volumes to the irresistible selections!“

“We went here for the experience more than the food. We've been to other sushi trains before that had stopped running the train and it was pretty basic. Point Sushi had fast service, the most adorable train delivery, a fantastic menu, and the food was really good.“

“We recently ordered take-out from Sushi Ichiban and it was superb! The salmon sashimi cuts were fresh and thick; the California rolls were refreshing (with cucumber); the salads had a really nice homemade Japanese dressing on them without being drenched and the grilled teriyaki chicken dinner was outstanding - totally generous on the portion front. The prices are also very fair!

Dietary restrictions: They are accommodating to allergy restriction like avocado which they swap for cucumber.“

“Really pretty Kaiseki offering with nice flavors and some really cool ingredient combinations. Would love to see how the set menu changes next time we visit. Awesome service and this felt like an intimate, and authentic Omikase joint. Pricing for kaiseki seems reasonable at $90 pp with 9 dishes and a very nice miso soup. The soy sauce in brewed in house and I'll need to come back to actually try it on something, as the set menu was seasoned, but the spoonful i had was delicious. Nice place!“

“first time eating here with a diverse group with limited Japanese food experience. mind blown!! beautiful atmosphere, staff were amazing made the 2 birthdays in our group very special. The food was beautifully prepared and tasted amazing! one in our group is a meat and potato's guy but is now a sushi lover! expecting a huge bill at the end of the night but was shocked at how very reasonable the price was for a total of 7 people. “Nice little place for take out. I wanted to order sushi for dinner but the shop close at 2:30pm. However, the owner told me he will come back to the shop to prepare my order at 5pm. Exceptional service! I ordered Golden Dragon, Black Dragon and Dynamite rolls. All taste good.“

“Some of the best sushi this side of Calgary. It's hard to find a decently priced yet still fresh Japanese restaurant that does fresh fish well.
Their potato korroke are some of the best I've had in Calgary and the fish is always fresh and delicious.

Edit- I took a break from here for a while cos their quality had gone down for a bit. Went back for takeout yesterday for the first time in months and happy to report their food is fresh and good quality again! Ordered salmon sashimi, salmon Maki, assorted tempura and beef udon noodle soup. So good and fresh!“

They have some great sushi lunch specials that are good value and everything was fresh, nice neat presentation and was yummy.
