Today, I wanted French Toast. But I didn't want to spend $40+ at a fancy buffet, so I decided to stop in to an Ol Skool Ma and Pa shop, Maria's Place. Last I stepped in was about 10+ years ago. I am happy to see that the place is busy than ever and the prices have stayed the same. I gave it a 5 star service,as being there was only 2 people working multiple different roles, she held it down and everyone got their food. Maria's Place is a quaint and humble restaurant just off 118th Avenue, offering amazing breakfast options and one of the best cheeseburgers for an affordable price. It is a classic greasy spoon diner with food that is delicious and tastes authentically Filipino, with dishes like chicken and pork inasal, lechon slice, bulalo, and sisig. The lechon slice was very crispy, bulalo tender, and the inasal tasted good. The pancakes are huge and fluffy, and the perogies are the best in town, chewy but soft-skinned and perfectly seasoned. The service is fantastic, and the vegetarian options are highly praised. While there can be a wait due to one cook, the food is excellent and piping hot. The restaurant also provides convenient parking and is kid-friendly. The staff are accommodating and attentive.
