“I want to commend Amber for the outstanding service and the decisive manner in which she handled a difficult situation this evening. When an older gentleman made an inappropriate comment to a young waitress, Amber intervened swiftly and firmly, ensuring he was asked to leave. Her calm, authoritative response protected the staff member and maintained a respectful environment for everyone present.
As a regular, I had observed this same individual on numerous occasions over the past several months. He would spend extended periods seated, often without ordering much, focusing his attention almost exclusively on one particular server. While his behavior did not cross any clear boundaries until tonight, it created noticeable unease over time.
However, having watched this pattern of lingering and overly focused attention persist for months, it is clear that earlier intervention is both possible and necessary to prevent discomfort for the staff before an overt incident occurs. Amber’s decisive action rose above the more tolerant approach that had previously allowed this behavior to continue unchecked. Her willingness to act firmly, rather than permitting the situation to escalate further, set the appropriate standard for addressing such patterns.
The service at the restaurant is consistently exceptional—attentive, personable, and professional. Amber’s effective intervention reinforced my confidence in the ability to protect staff and maintain a comfortable environment, particularly when a more proactive stance is taken.“

If visiting Czechia has ruined beer for you or you want to know why they have the best beer in the world, (it's the taps) stop in for a mug. Don't forget to chug a mliko first.“

“My best description of our experience is that I felt like I must have been friends with the owner. The service was phenomenal and personalized. The atmosphere at the bar was great, chatting among other parties even trying things each ordered.
At first glance I wondered if the concise yet diverse menu would work together, and every dish we had was unique while also working together beautifully. You NEED the sweet corn custard/broccolini + fries for dipping— don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.“

“Can someone please teach the cooks how to deep fry onion rings? They're ALWAYS way overcooked and cut up my mouth. They cook them rock hard. I don't like how dark it is there either. They need more lighting. There's lounge lighting, and then there's candle lit bath lighting. People don't wanna eat in restaurants with the same level of light as a candle lit bath lol. That's why the 2 stars for atmosphere. I've never been in a restaurant or even a night club or lounge that is this dark. Also not impressed by the change in quality of the food since covid. They used to use a nice brioche bun for the sandwich and now they just use a dollar store hamburger bun and it's too soggy made that way.“

“Opus is a great little neighborhood pub.
We come to play darts in the afternoon and enjoy a pop and snacks. Food is quite delicious and reasonably priced. Calm afternoon atmosphere with (usually🙂) good music playing. No charge to use the dart boards, but bring your own darts! Pool tables are $2 a game. Staff are always friendly and welcoming. Being retired, we find it a relaxing way to spend the odd afternoon.“
“Since moving back home to the island The Bower is my go to venue when returning to Edmonton. Being a DJ this place hires incredible fellow DJs. Strongly recommend!!!!“
“Came during the day for a coffee because the cafes were closed and I needed to get out of the rain. They have a good food menu and they operate in tandem with the restaurant next door. The owner and staff were super friendly, gave me coffee on the house and free refills (I didn't even realize until after I left). The food was delicious and they were super friendly even though I didn't buy any alcohol this time. Made my day, I'd go back any day for a drink.“
“Access to facilities are easy and very reasonable. The activities provided for you and your family are awesome.“

“I cannot express enough gratitude for Midway Music Hall, Live Nation, and their incredible staff. After my sister passed away at just 29 years old, we wanted to honor her with a Celebration of Life at a music venue, as she loved concerts and shows. From my very first interaction with Alex at Live Nation, I knew we had found the perfect place. Alex, Leslie, Zak, and the entire team at Midway Music Hall went above and beyond to support us during such a difficult time.
Their care, compassion, and thoughtfulness were evident in every step of the process. They worked closely with us to customize the event to reflect who my sister was, and the results were truly remarkable. Every guest commented on how beautiful and meaningful the event was, and I know my sister would have loved it.
The team's amazing communication and willingness to go the extra mile made a heartbreaking experience bittersweet. I am deeply appreciative of everything they did for me and my family. I cannot recommend Midway Music Hall and Live Nation enough. If you’re considering hosting a special event, this is the team to trust.
Thank you again for everything—you made an incredibly difficult time just a little brighter.“

“Well, sugar, let me regale you with the tale of my splendid time at Dewey's, the charming bar on the University of Alberta Campus. My hip might not be what it used to be, but that didn't stop me from waltzing into this haven of joy.First off, the Irish red at Dewey's is truly divine, dearie. Sipped it like it was the nectar of the gods, and let me tell you, it made my old bones feel a tad sprightlier. Now, brace yourself for the fun part – I played pool with a bunch of fine young men studying in the institution of engineering (Hunky!). Oh, my stars! Those lads were as charming as a summer breeze, and we laughed and jested like old pals. But let me shine the spotlight on Emma, our angelic waitress. Bless her heart, she fluttered around like a butterfly, ensuring our glasses were never empty and our smiles never faded. Emma, that dear, made this old lady feel like royalty, attending to our every need with a grace that warmed my heart.Dewey's, with its Irish red, pool-playing hunks, and the delightful Emma, is more than just a bar; it's a haven of merriment and camaraderie. This old gal found a slice of paradise right there on the University of Alberta Campus. Cheers to Dewey's!“

“I booked a reservation for our anniversary thru open table, but somehow it reserved a table - at the Prince George restaurant…after speaking to the manager, Stefan, he sat us in the lounge at a nice table by the fireplace, gave us a couple of drinks on the house, and had a great steak dinner, then got a delicious dessert( on the house)… I just want to thank Stefan, our server and the rest of the staff for making our night out a success… Taras Pyzyk“

“No food here, but plenty of cold beer at great prices. The Top Patio is cool as are the various levels of the building. Cool outdoor Mainfloor Patio as well. Jay the Mercenary, Fu Manchu, Metal Jay, Phil the Electric Trip, and the Necromancer DJ were and perhaps still are solid staples of this fine establishment. Notable guests include the Red Witch, the Shaman, the Ranger, Mike of Whyte, Brad the Barbarian, and the Zombie Master. Lots of good music as well. I would recommend this pub.“

“We tried a new restaurant last night and it was fantastic! I love Ethiopian food, and wanted to try a place I hadn’t been to before. First thing to note is that the word “Bete” is not the french word “bête,” meaning “beast” (as in animal). It is an Amharic word meaning house, similar to “Beth” in Hebrew and “bayt” in Arabic, as I was told. All this just to clarify that the restaurant’s name is more closely translated as “Africa House,” not “African Beast,” which I ignorantly thought prior to learning this from the owners. We told the host that it was our first time there and that we were willing and eager to learn from him and try new things. He was very helpful and guided us though the menu. Before making a decision, we noticed that some other guests were eating fresh banana with their injera (the ubiquitous crêpe-like sourdough bread served with virtually all dishes), which piqued our interest, Lindsay in particular. When we asked which dishes came with banana, he laughed and told us that they don’t serve bananas, and it’s a common way of eating injera for Somalians, and that those guys arrived with their own banana. Apparently this is a BYOB restaurant. So, with no bananas to be had for us, we decided that the $99 mixed plate was the way to go. As you can see, there is a wide variety of food in this dish. In the middle, ground beef topped with their homemade cheese (similar in texture to feta, not as strong in taste, yet oh so fresh). At first, I was convinced there was mint in this, then I realized it was rosemary. It made it very refreshing. Bottom left is a perfectly spicy lamb tibs in the most delicious red sauce. Next to that is a mild lamb tibs that was juicy and yummy, with a couple jalapeño accents just for fun. To the right was a fried beef strip dish with onions called cha-cha tibs. Up top, a variety of lentil and chickpea mashes, plus pickled beets and cabbage. We ate like the locals, with our hands, using small torn off pieces of injera as temporary, edible utensils, and were endlessly satisfied as we worked our way around the platter. The only problem was, we just couldn’t finish it, so we ended up with a takeaway box of a couple pounds of leftovers (aw, shucks). We had a wonderful conversation with the husband and wife team, who shared so much about their culture, including the beautiful artwork and artifacts throughout the space. We even got to meet their baby, who, I am proud to say, reached out for me to hold her. She was adorable! We also learned that the wife occasionally offers cooking courses. Would you be surprised to learn that my name is on the waiting list? One can’t help but salivate I’m thinking about such a culinary experience. I wish I had discovered it sooner, despite having driven past it countless times (it’s on 111 Avenue across from Tony’s pizza). To be honest, it’s not the classiest part of town (I reported a needle to 311 on our way out), so if you’re leery of that sort of thing, now is the time to get over it and see what rewards await you when you step outside your social and gastronomical comfort zones. Just be sure to invite me along when you do.“

“My husband and I were looking to have a nice dinner together whilst trying to kill time waiting on family. We had finished our meal and were just having coffee (a standard with us post dinner) and we were approached by the manager asking us if we could accommodate a table that was reserved up top where we were, and he would relocate us to another spot. We had absolutely no issues with that, especially since we were killing time. They moved everything for us and luckily the same waitress even came by in not even her section, just to check on us; which as a past serve I know can be hard but it was acknowledged and appreciated. And on top it all they discounted our bill, which was absolutely unnecessary but GREATLY appreciated. 10/10 will be back to this location, just due to the service alone. Highly recommended. Thank you Keg West Edmonton“

“We traveled from Saskatoon to Edmonton for the week. We had asked a redit page what the best bar is in Edmonton and by far this place won by a landslide in the comments.
We had a great time ! It wasn't at all what we expected but still had so much fun and the staff behind the main big bar and the girl selling beers/ices were so friendly.
Definitely know that we need to learn some line dances for next time !“

“I recently had a silent auction at this establishment and honestly it was so amazing. The space, atmosphere, owners, servers, food and music were outstanding. I have been to several events at the high note and have always had a similar experience. Highly recommend for any functions, a fun night out, or just a night of relaxation having a drink, some pizza, and music when available.“
“Fun on the patio.
Good band followed by an even better second band.
Security guys here were a pain as usual.
My daughter purchased a drink in a plastic pail and they refused to let her bring to the empty out...that left a bad taste in our mouth. How much did that plastic souvenir cost vs the bad feelings.
Other than these guys the actual people who come here are friendly, welcoming folks who are here for a good time.
Our server was lovely.
Our bartender was quick.“

“What makes Zembaba 2 truly special is the way it brings people together. Families gather around generous platters, friends reconnect over fragrant coffee, and newcomers are welcomed like long-lost relatives. The staff serve with genuine warmth—hospitality that doesn’t feel rehearsed but heartfelt, as though each guest is an honored visitor. Their kindness pairs beautifully with the food: tender meats marinated with care, vegetables cooked to perfection, and spices blended in the way only experience and love can create.
The dishes at Zembaba 2 celebrate the deep heritage of Somali and Ethiopian cuisines—flavors shaped by tradition, carried across generations, and shared with pride. Whether it’s the comforting taste of injera, the bold richness of suqaar, or the soothing warmth of a perfectly brewed cup of Somali or Ethiopian tea, every bite carries the unmistakable feeling of home, even for those discovering these cuisines for the first time.
Eating here feels less like dining out and more like being welcomed into someone’s family. Zembaba 2 is a place where memories are made, stories are shared, and cultures are celebrated with every meal. It’s a restaurant with a heart—one that invites you to sit down, slow down, and savor not only the food but the sense of belonging that comes with it.“
