While I don't personally find whisky and ramen to be a good pairing from a culinary perspective, I appreciate the uniqueness of the experience. I always feel like I'm in a bigger city - like Seattle - when I visit this place.“

The Mac and cheese, chicken lettuce wraps and the meekrob are always delicious, but this last time that I went was so strange. I got the meekrob. The shrimp tasted fine, but oddly enough the chicken and the sausage in my dish tasted so fishy that I couldn’t even eat the meat. My boyfriend got the drunken noodles, and they were so salty that they were almost inedible. We do not complain when we go out, and I have NEVER sent food back to the kitchen. I’m not that kinda girl. I grin and bear it, but I was pretty disappointed this last time eating there. Born and raised in Alaska and local to Anchorage, it’s one of my staples, but I don’t know how much I’ll be eating there in the future.“

I found the prices very fair especially comparing them to Basil Ginger in the valley. We didn’t order a single roll over $20 and our favorite cooked one (spider) was only $15. The restaurant was pretty packed yet our food came out surprisingly fast for how many people were dining in. The waitress was on FIRE. Running around making sure everyone was good. She also gave us dessert at the end for free. Maybe it’s a thing but we were highly flattered and appreciative! It was great to eat at a clean establishment that also checked allll the other boxes too. My kids and I got up to leave and both noted “this place deserves a shining review!”. Highly recommend 🙂“

“Not only does Yak and Yeti have fantastic (!) food, but it serves as a pillar of community on the West side of Anchorage. They employ lots of high school and college students, and the owner is incredibly supportive of young people pursuing their dreams. Oftentimes you'll find information about local scholarships and other opportunities printed out at the front counter. I study there every week and look forward to interacting with the staff, who make an effort to remember details about me. One time the owner even told me to put my phone down from across the restaurant when he knew I had an exam to be studying for. This restaurant and the people who run it are very special. If Yak and Yeti has 1 fan it's me, and if they have 0 fans I'm dead!!“

“I was excited to try Xalos after reading all of the positive reviews. My California burrito tasted good but the carne asada was pretty tough and some of the listed ingredients were hard to find.

I was also let down when I learned that you cannot customize your burrito at all and they don't have a salsa bar. How can you serve chips without salsa and then charge $6 for a small side of salsa? 🙄

I'll come back some time to try the birria tacos... but I'll probably stick to Qdoba or Taco King next time I'm looking for a burrito.“
