“I'm not usually the type to leave reviews. But this place is special, from the staff, the atmosphere, and the consistency of the food. As you walk into the door you are greeted by a friendly hello. The menu is rotating weekly, but has staples that never leave, like the Bacon Egg and Cheese. They are the kind of place that if you frequent enough, remember your name and order. They make you feel like you are a part of their little family. Incredible food, better people.”

“The only place to give me food at 12:30 at night saving me from hunger before walking home from the bar and that grilled cheese hit the spot also got 2 tasty brownies one I ate that night and one my friends and I ate the next day and they agreed it was one of the tastiest brownies we’d had in a long time. Mike was also super kind and accomodating saying they’re ran out of ingredients and were closed but happy to make me one last grilled cheese. Also the staff that were on were laughing and enjoying them selves even though it’s almost 1am as they packed u. An over all good vibe, food made with love. The cute stickers on the box were an added bonus.”

Great variety to choose from on the menu; our drinks and food were served in a very reasonable amount of time (too soon & I worry that things were thrown together, and of course no one wants to wait too long, the timing here is perfect!) “Bartender Jeff is knows cocktails like Mahomes knows football. Give him a general direction and see what happens - could be epic. True craft cocktails without being pretentious. The second team behind the bar is awesome, too, but takes a back seat to Jeff’s artistry. Food is nicely done, too, but the shining stars of the Kannery are behind the bar”

“By far the best BAR in Homer alaska! Amazing sound system and stage with live music, outside bbq and out door music stage, horse shoes, corn hole, pool tournaments, and some of the best bartenders this side of the peninsula! Their taco Tuesday is one of the best in town!”

“When my wife and I came into town for a birthday weekend, we arrived early and were scrolling through what was available when we came across Don Jose’s and decided to roll the dice. We've tried every “Mexican” restaurant in Anchorage and the valley and been disappointed every time. We had given up hope that there was anything remotely authentic or as delicious as the Mexican food we both grew up on in Texas. Don Jose's absolutely blew our minds. The fried avocado appetizer was beautifully done, delicious, and a large enough portion to be an entree. I had the enchilada trio with ground beef/birria beef/chicken with one of each sauce and my wife had the cheese enchilada with beef tamale. Every single aspect of both dishes was impeccable. The tenderness of the meats showed top notch attention to detail, care for, and respect of the ingredients which delivered bursting flavor in every bite. The ground beef enchilada with verde sauce was the best I've ever had, and the meal as a whole was the best Mexican food I've ever had outside of south central Texas. It's a six hour drive for us to get here but we will absolutely plan our next trip to Homer around visiting Don Jose's again. I can not possibly recommend it more highly to anyone looking for food so good you won't believe it was made in Alaska.”
