4 Best Craft Breweries in Juneau

Barnaby Brewing Company Brewery • $
165 Shattuck Way, Juneau

“Hands down the best brewery in Juneau from top to bottom. All of the employees are super friendly and will help you find the best beer for your tastes. All the beers on tap taste exactly as the style they're supposed to taste like. No gimmicky beers here, which I appreciate. You can even bring in your outside food to enjoy while pairing it with some of their beers. Can't rave enough about this place. If you're visiting Juneau this is the place to go!“

Devil's Club Brewing Company Brewery • $$
100 N Franklin St, Juneau

“Devil's Club is excellent. As a local we've been many times. They could use a larger space - on popular nights (pizza night or an event) they've pretty clearly outgrown this space, nice as it is. It can feel packed, standing room only, with no place to set down your beer if you also want to try to have some food.Food options are limited but good if you aren't gluten free (no gluten free options except for the popcorn).“

Forbidden Peak Brewery Brewery • $$
11798 Glacier Hwy, Juneau

“We're fortunate to have 4 breweries in Juneau and this is one of our favorites. Barnaby is a bit more creative in their beer line-up, but Forbidden Peak has a fantastic large space with great views of Auke Bay, and a solid beer line-up, albeit a bit stagnant / monotone. They have several seltzers for the non-beer-drinkers or gluten-free people in your group, and about 15 beers on tap. They introduce about one new rotating beer once a month or so, but the rest of the lineup feels a bit conventional - they mostly seem to stick to a tight ABV / IBU style range. (Or maybe that's just a winter '23/'24 thing?)If I had the opportunity to chat with the brewmaster I'd love to lobby for a few ideas:Sometimes less is more, you probably don't need 14 beers on tap - a smaller, more diverse line-up is catching on in some places.Any Belgian (tripel, wit, quad, BPA, etc) or farmhouse style (saison) in the regular lineup would be awesome. The occasional sour has been interesting but there are usually no details about the type of sour yeast or style target - they're usually "fruity" beers for some reason. There are 4 different lagers that are all very similar. Props for putting in the extra work lagers require; but I'm not sure having both American lager and German lager is worth it - the American one is just the German one rewritten to be less flavorful (gateway beer?). And the schwarzbier and marzen are just malt variants on the helles. Good beers, but lagers have a lot more potential diversity than that (bock, doplebock, pilsner, kolsch, etc).Thank you for listening and cheers to 2024!“

Alaskan Brewing Co Brewery • $
5364 Commercial Blvd, Juneau

“We took the free shuttle to the brewery from the cruise port area and can easily say this was the best part of Juneau and a highlight of the entire cruise. Taking the free shuttle and talking to the shuttle driver was amazing. It was basically a free cruise excursion. The shuttle driver was a local who knew everything about the area and was a breath of fresh air from all the touristy cruise port nonsense.Once we arrived at the brewery we had a great time. It was nice talking with the incredibly friendly staff at the brewery. Our favorite beer was the Kolsch. If you're looking for an easy way to get out of the port area and have a great time with great beer than visit the brewery.“
