My son and I stopped by intrigued by the hand forged knives. The owner could not have been more helpful and informative. He educated us on the knife making process and taught us what to look for when shopping for authentic hand crafted knives. His whole family is involved in their market, the daughter makes jewelry and really takes pride in her work. Such a great family. I used to live in Talkeetna, but I chose to move to Fairbanks, but decided to come back to visit. I highly recommend the roasted peanuts at Mexican Moose. The owners children were very polite and gave samples to people walking by by their gift shop. I know very little Spanish, but you can speak English or Spanish at Mexican Moose. They family was so nice! We loved eating at Annie’s kitchen next to the tent and enjoyed the waffle hot dogs & pulled pork sandwiches with ice cream! Family owned business and we love the ornaments we bought hand made from local birch wood tree bark! These were $25 & $35 on the pricey side but handmade and local.
