“My dad (Jeff Herbinger )loved coming here and spending his friday and Saturday nights playing pool and hanging out with friends. Just know he loved the staff and people who came down there. I am surely going to miss him.”
“Nice little place that is as much restaurant as it is bar. Don’t skip the food. No need for the double patty burger because the single patty is huge and delicious. Great onion rings. Biker friendly.”
“I absolutely love this restaurant! I highly recommend trying their Grilled Salmon. it's the best. I come here almost twice a week for lunch, and every bite reminds me of home cooked meals.”
“An Alabama tradition, the restaurant is pure charm and nostalgia. It would be hard to find a more friendly staff anywhere. I was there for lunch and had the gumbo. It was a perfect blend of ingredients with just enough spice to be enjoyable. I finished with a large slice of peanut butter pie that was equally amazing. It was southern home style you can only find in these authentic locations. Well done.”
“Let me tell you what. The tacos are phenomenal. They are seasoned, right portions. For most Americans, organs are taboo. You can confidently eat any of the meats with pleasure. They open for a couple of hours.”
“RDM catering hosted my cousin Dexter Johnson Heavenly B’day Celebration today.I must say I really enjoyed myself. The service was very professional. The food was DELICIOUS!! My grand son had the chicken wings, greens and macaroni cheese. He loves chicken,it had to be scruptious,b/c he ate all the wings first non stop. Thanks for all you do RDM catering. May God continue to Bless your business”
“We made a quick pitstop at this local coffee and sandwich shop. It's a cute converted shopping container with a wide array of sandwiches, coffees, snow cones and more! They even had dairy free milk options for your coffee. They were super friendly with a large parking lot shared by a grocery store. They had a small patio and games for kids.Great pit stop one mile from a local dog park too!”
“I thought the fish would have been seasoned..It was edible. I didn't expect all those hushppies. I don't want that many. That was a waste for me..I will return to beat there again.”
“This is my absolute favorite Mexican restaurant and by far the best food in North Alabama. Great atmosphere! Amazing service, thank you Luis and the guacamole to die for. The Mole sauce on the enchiladas is amazing and the shrimp cocktail is huge and very good. Just love this place. So much so I eat here almost every other night. Remember to support your local eateries so we do not starve.”
“I can only eat ribs a couple times a year now because of gout, so I have to choose carefully to not be disappointed. The rib plate I got today was outstanding. Good flavor and spices, cooked perfectly. Tender but still has texture. I'll be back in a few months. I don't think they have tacos.”
“Classic Burger was a whole lot of mouth-watering goodness. I picked up a BBQ sandwich when I was driving through the area, and as a self-proclaimed BBQ connoisseur I can say that this was some tasty BBQ. Service was quick and friendly and I'd happily go back!”
“I LOVE this shop! I’ve been a customer for around 3 years. There are a ton of flavors of both shakes and teas. The owner and staff are fantastic and have developed friendships with so many of their regular customers. I love going in and several of them already know which tea I’m probably going to order. They have the absolute best protein shakes of any restaurant/shop I’ve been to. And the loaded teas not only have a ton of flavor options, they have caffeine level options along with add-ins such as extra hydration, collagen, etc. The shop also sells jewelry, bags, t- shirts, and other fun items. It’s fantastic to have such a great shop in McCalla!”
“I love going into the establishment and the server knows what we want. It had been a month or so since we had been there and be remembered everything we ordered normally. When we first started eating here we told him the type of food we liked and he made suggestions for us and it had been amazing every time. The sushi is really good here. It's fresh and is super yummy. I like sitting outside on the deck when it's not freezing outside. I have tried many different items on the menus and a lot of the sushi and it's always been good.”
“Everything here is amazing. I'm a child so I'm picky sometimes but I tried 6 new foods today and the results were awesome. The workers are so friendly and have a board of photos of customers who came to their last building, my family and I are on it because my family has been going even before I was born. It's just that good. We always get the buffet and the food is always fresh. YUMMYYYYY”
“Da bomb! This little roadside Cantina, just off the interstate make some of the best Mexican food I've had in Alabama. The inside is nicely decorated, and actually looks better than the outside does. But the food is what really shines. Lunch specials are very reasonably priced and delicious. I had the enchiladas verdes. But the star was the Al pastor street taco, which was perfectly seasoned and included big chunks of pineapple, in addition to the tasty pork. This place is definitely worth seeking out”
“We stopped in here for lunch after a local recommendation. Overall we were pretty pleased with the experience. Loved that as soon as we walked in they had an open pit there with a variety of meats cooking. A sign said that Monday was their Catfish specials day so I thought I’d try that, that is until I walked in and smelled the smoke from the open pit. I then decided I would have to try their BBQ. I opted for their Low Carb Special which included 2 ribs, your choice of pulled chicken or pork (I chose the pork), and a salad. The meals did not include a beverage so that was extra. My meal ended up being just under $17 which for me seems like a pricey lunch but it was a generous portion of food. The salad was good but nothing spectacular. The ribs were really good, the pulled pork left me disappointed. I enjoy eating my BBQ without adding sauce. To me great BBQ should be able to be enjoyed with just the natural juices, smoke, and seasoning. The pulled pork lacked flavor (smoke or seasoning) and was very dry. Maybe I should have tried it with some sauce added but I’m diabetic so I try to avoid sauces which are normally loaded with sugar. This place is definitely worth a try if you’re looking for an option in the area!”
“This was my first time dine in. The Neckbones and the two sides were awesome. I am currently visiting from Greenville SC and I am definitely will come back. Thumbs up!!!”
“It's like going to to your parents house to get some food to take home. I've been coming here since they opened and the food, service and atmosphere has never changed.”
“Mrs. Israel showed great customer service, very genuine, and passionate about helping her community heal through herbs and food. I loved eating the Kaleicious wrap very flavorful. Also, if you are just transitioning into a plant based diet she has great resources and food items that make you feel like you’re not missing out.If you want to heal, feel vibrant and energized it’s time we choose better food options and the Good Health Cafe helps us do just that!It is possible to eat good and feel even better!Kid-friendliness: My toddlers also enjoy eating plant based meals!”
“I discovered this little gem and it's honestly the best place fir homemade desserts and ice cream. Everything is is hand crafted and delicious. I will definitely be back”
“It's absolutely amazing. The food was some of the best I've ever had. The fried rice was a true masterpiece. The sushi was perfect and as beautiful as it was delicious. The staff were some of the nicest, well-spoken people I've had the pleasure of meeting. The restaurant was beautiful and clean. With a wonderful mood in the air. I have to say Sakura was one of the best dining experiences I've ever had.”
“BBQ sandwiches were really good. Next time I’ll know to ask for extra pickles, since they each only had 1. They were still very tasty, however. My husband was disappointed with the “jumbo” swiss burger. It used to be his favorite but he swears it’s smaller now. (It very well may be the same size it’s always been, as he does tend to be dramatic, but he’s mine and I love him.) I also ordered a BLT (delicious!) and an order of both types of fries and they were great. The BLT had plenty of B, could have used more L, and ample T. (Mayo was on point but it isn’t called a BLTM, so….) Overall, I’m very satisfied and will definitely start eating there more often, again. The staff was wonderful, and the prices aren’t bad, either.Vegetarian options: They have “vegetables”, as in sides, and also salad, but it’s a BBQ joint so….Kid-friendliness: Kids meals are available for ages 10&up.”
“I grew up in Hueytown,Al and Speedy's was our Sunday, after church, tradition. When I was little I honestly couldn't stand Tex Mex, Mexican food, but I always LOVED Speedy's humungous taco salads, and their mind blowing Combo burritos. There's nothing out of the norm with their recipe, or ingredients, nothing that's a radical departure from any other recipe, as far as I can tell, but there's honestly nothing better. Their salsa is phenomenal. I don't know what they make it from, but I've never had another like it. It haunts my taste buds, in the greatest way possible.I moved away from Hueytown over twenty years ago, and I found myself always wanting their food. i have seriously driven over 7 hours on occasion, just to go get some of their amazing, delectable, other worldly food and salsa. I've lived all over the country, lived in Texas, around some of the world's most authentic, best Mexican and Tex Mex restaurants, food carts, street taco vendors, and as amazing as that experience was, I still always found myself wishing that it was Speedy's.Perhaps it's a psychological, childhood association, leaving a deeply seated love for their food and salsa? Perhaps they're evil geniuses, and brainwashed my taste buds, using the world's leading experts on food based psychological warfare? Or maybe it's just really and truly that phenomenal? Sadly, I don't get to go there nearly as much over the last few years. The only time I do ever seem to pass back through my hometown, is when I'm there for a loved one's funeral. And yes, it may be able to be inferred, that I may possibly choose to make that long drive, for my combo burritos and salsa, more so than being the dutiful family member. But that's because of the taste bud brainwashing, right?! I'm always horrified that I'll find out that they've closed or retired, or sold the restaurant off to someone that doesn't honor old ways. I'm always so fearful that I'll never again taste the sweet nectar of their salsa, the ambrosia that is their burritos. I can't recommended enough selling massive bottles of said salsa, and cryogenically frozen burritos. One day those could save the world, or at the very least, satisfy my intense cravings.Until we meet again, hopefully sooner than later, never close, never stop doing what you do, and feel free to franchise to other states, please.TL;DRFood really really good. Me like a lot. May or may not be secret taste bud, mind control agents, hell bent on hometown taste bud domination.”
“Took my dad here yesterday, I've never seen the man put away a double cheeseburger that fast. I'm more partial to the chili slaw dogs, but I have never ordered anything here that didn't disappear incredibly fast.”
“Great food I got the street tacos and they were delicious the service was great both workers I spoke to were kind and there was about 3 people’s orders infront of me and it only took 5 mins for my order to come ”
“I love their BBQ Chicken, and the Grilled Chicken club, top of off with a Oreo Funnel Cake for desert! This place is super convenient, and their food is amazing! Wonderful friendly staff as well!”
“They were short on staff ,and I think there was only one person in the kitchen, and someone young running the counter. They had the food prepared on time and it was hot and delicious, they certainly didn’t skip out on any proportions and would highly recommend them. They never let us down when we go”
“My first time.I don't really know anything about this town however I do know it's important to know future visit! My God all that food on my plate!I ate all of it too...The coffee took me all the way into the am breakfast experance.....”
“Got 3 Supreme Meat footings tonight and they were delicious! I really appreciate the fact that you make them to order because I like a bit of sweet with my spicy! Sweet Teriyaki sauce is good on a Supreme Meat sub! Thank you!”
“This is the life, looking at the water watching the boats go by. Listening to a band or karaoke. Drinks, Beer and Pizza and on occasion having a lunch fit for a Queen (since I'm a woman) Crawfish, Shrimp and Crablegs. Friendly folks to boot what more could you ask for.”
