Restaurantji presents Decatur's standout Mexican dining destinations.
“You gotta try Country Tacos!! Fantastic, flavorful food, friendly staff and clean clean clean on the inside!! It’s off the beaten path but one of the best places in northern Alabama. The menu is absolutely huge - so many options!Out first time we got several different taco types - I like the country and Tex Mex tacos. I also highly recommend the country fries. Prices are low for the amount of food. If you go away hungry - it’s your fault!Only complaint is parking - but the food makes it worth it!!“
“This food was too good. I’m oddly suspicious they have a world renowned kitchen hidden in the back of that tiny restaurant. It was the best meal I’ve had in a while and I am so glad to have some authentic Mexican specifically birria !!“
“The food and price have been the same for 15+ years...Its consistently delicious.Definitely try the jalapeno/mango margarita on the rocks ?Vegetarian options: Vegetarian- yes, vegan- no.Kid-friendliness: They were very friendly to my very unruly child. He was all over the place and they just laughed and smiled... We were the only people in the restaurant at the time, but they were very friendly and considerate.Wheelchair accessibility: Lots of wide spaces. The end of each booth will fit a wheel chair.“
“Everything we ate was amazing! I got the mole, and the chicken had so much flavor. I'll definitely be coming back for more. Only downside is the building doesn't have A/C, so it was pretty warm when we were there in the middle of summer.“
“Tio Juan’s has become our hangout place for my friends and I. We are here at least twice a week! Best Margaritas in town! They know us well, from our drink favorites to appetizers and entrees! They only want to know if we want our usual! And have corrected us when we order the wrong entree number! We love it and the staff!!“
“If you want authentic Mexican food then come here. The food is soooo good, but there is a language barrier, so you may want to brush up on your Spanish before eating here. Everyone was very nice and it was a cute place. I liked the food and so did my family. Oh and it's fairly cheap in price like for 4 people to eat and we ordered a lot it was under $50.“
“✨This review is in reference to the El Palomino food truck that’s located on Danville Park Drive, SW. The customer service was great! I didn’t have cash on hand so I had to use Apple Pay and the gentleman from the back explained kindly to me that there’s a fee for debit/ credit card transactions because my total was a little bit more than what was previously told to me. It wasn’t a problem for me at all! All of the employees were kind and very friendly. They’re open Tuesday - Sunday (11 am - 8 pm). Please stop by and get some of the great food they have! The horchata was delicious as well as the grilled chicken meal that I ordered. I’ve eaten at the main location on 6th Avenue many times before and I’ve never had any problems. You won’t regret it! ?✨“
“I am from South Houston Texas and stopped here early today for lunch with a coworker who never had real comida mexicana. This place is great and the folks who took care of us were very nice and welcoming I will always recommend and the servings are generous and flavorful worth every “
“Great establishment. Wonderful staff, food, and drinks. Especially the happy hour margaritas. We are always satisfied with our food. I love how close this staff is. If you're in need of something or have an issue, they're going to make it right.Kid-friendliness: Several kids meals to choose from.Wheelchair accessibility: Two easy access areas to the sidewalk from handicap parking spaces.“
“We've been several times and it does not fail to deliver delicious authentic flavors! Large portions give great value for money and it is definitely quality. Al pastor tacos, chimichangas, enchiladas, berria tacos, flautas, and tamales are all favorites. We will eat here often, love it!“
“I've been looking for salsa with no cilantro since we moved to Decatur in January of 2021! FINALLY found it and it was delicious!!!! Food and service were great and so was all of our food! We will definitely be back! I'm so excited to finally find a Mexican restaurant that understands that not everyone likes cilantro! Goodbye Decatur Mexican restaurants! so worth the drive to Priceville!“
“By far my favorite Mexican restaurant in Decatur. Authentic, fresh, and delicious gorditas, tortas, tacos, and other typical Mexican dishes as well as a selection of fresh juices. Really, the gorditas are to die for! And the staff are really nice there, too.“
“My husband and I enjoyed the food. However no one else was dining when we went around 4PM. It seemed like the people that stopped by mainly got to go orders. We ordered the chips and salsa and a small bowl of cheese dip. Then he ordered the combination plate. I ordered the chicken burritos. We got 1 Dr Pepper and 1 Unsweet Tea. Total of our order was $41.00.“
“Very nice place to stop in. We went for a quick lunch and both had the steak fajitas. These weresome of the tastiest I have ever had. Simple and delicious. The service was great and it is decorated very nice. I will definitely be stopping back in when we are in Decatur.Vegetarian options: I did see some vegetarian items on the menu like grilled vegetable plates.Parking: Plenty of spaces in front as well as the side.Kid-friendliness: Good quiet place that is perfect for children.“
