“We used Costas to cater a fundraiser for our school's band. Costas was wonderful to work with, very kind and conscientious, they thought of everything we would need for our event, and the food was reasonably priced. our guests loved the salad, bread and entrees (chicken alfredo, lasagna, and baked spaghetti). Costas homemade dressings are fantastic as well--the best ranch and Greek dressings around. Being of Mediterranean descent and a pretty good cook myself, I'm picky about Mediterranean food; Costas tasted like grandma's cooking. Their service was excellent, people friendly & helpful, and everyone was happy with dinner. What more can you ask for?“
“Purple Onion in Hoover, AL, is now one of my favorite go-to spots for Mediterranean cuisine! The menu offers a great variety of options and everything I've tried so far has been flavorful and satisfying. The restaurant has a relaxed vibe, making it perfect for a casual meal with friends or family.“
“Take your tastebuds on a magical journey that will delight and thrill. This is as authentic as it gets for Greek cuisine in Alabama. There is most definitely truth in advertising as everything was indeed tasty. Since I couldn’t decide on what to order I instinctively went for a whole assortment of different flavor profiles. The baked chicken is the tell , if you go to a Greek restaurant and they don’t have a good baked chicken… walk out. This should be a staple on every single Greek menu. Seemingly innocuous but it is the cannery in the coal mine so to speak for what you can expect for the rest of the meal. It outperformed even my high expectations. Served with a grilled lemon to squeeze over the top it was perfectly salted and not over or under cooked. Our sides were the Greek fries (which were crispy in all the right ways, and a punch of saltiness from the cheese) I asked for some taziki sauce for the chicken but dipped my fries on it as well. Honestly I didn’t even dip the chicken in it because it tasted so good on its own I didn’t have to. I also feasted upon the spinach rice and tabouleh and both were opposites on the flavor spectrum one with warm savory spices that melted with the tomatoes and rice and the other bursting with fresh herbs and spring vegetables with Frekkah which is a roasted green wheat that adds such a wonderful texture and pleasant yet slightly nutty flavor. The orzo “Mac and cheese” is no ordinary Mac and cheese side, this Greek version of a classic dish had such an amazing mouth feel with some garlic and herb notes that just elevated it to the next level. And I’m going to end where we started which was with the appetizers. I can never get past the spanakopita (which is heavy on the dill just like I like it) But today I added in the garden humus which had fresh limas and asparagus with an array of herbs with a drizzle of olive oil… and that is just the topping, underneath laid a silky smooth hummus that was not grainy or bitter . The fresh pita sent me over the moon… I was in greek heaven. The chicken pita was like having all the freshness of the salads and the spot on roasted chicken all in one…. So you really can’t go wrong with anything on the menu. I have yet to try something I absolutely didn’t love . We were so stuffed that we had to get the desserts to go but my god … if you haven’t been here you are missing out on one of the best restaurants Birmingham has to offer. It’s a hidden gem in plain sight.“
“The prices are on the higher end (check online), but the food justifies it. And I'm NOT a big spender. Everyone's food came perfect and we were all filled by the end of the meal. Here's what we had that we loved: steak, salmon, crab claws (fried), fried chicken, grilled chicken, gumbo, and a peach old fashioned. Our waitress (whos name I have sadly forgotten but I wanna say her name is Christy) was fantastic. I wasn't a believer until I went there. If you're on the fence, just go at least once.Dietary restrictions: Celiac friendly for us. Talk to your waiter and they'll tell you what is safe and what's not. If they don't know, they'll find someone who does know!“
“Nice little diner with solid Greek cuisine. Yes, they are living in the States long enough to have adjusted the style and flavors, but the Spanokopita was the best (commercially available) that I ever had in Birmingham. The entrees come with one side, a Greek salad, and a roll making it a bit more food than a sensible person that is not doing manual labor should eat.The Greek salad did not resemble any horiatiki I ever had in Greece and the Greek potatoes came in a sauce, which was a disappointment since I clearly remember this vegetarian default dish to be crisp, citrussy, and herbal. Still a good, affordable meal but I cannot give more than 4 stars since everything came on disposable plates.Vegetarian options: There is no vegetarian section on the menu, dishes are not labeled vegetarian, and when I asked there was some hesitation. I thoroughly enjoyed my Spanokopita.“
“I go to this location often. I drive past another location to get to this one because I love it so much. The workers are incredible, fast, friendly, and I’ve never had a complaint. Food is fantastic!Vegetarian options: Plenty to choose from!“
“It’s great to have the original menu back, but certain items are different than I recall. While the potato salad and chicken salad lived up to our hopes, my old favorite, the chicken and slaw pita, was a disappointment. In the old days the slaw wasn’t marinated and you’d add oil and vinegar at your table, but with marinated slaw the pita fell apart immediately. Worse, the chicken was less flavorful than I remembered. That’s ok - hopefully they can work out the kinks and return to the original menu’s former glory.“
“This is always a must-go place for me when I’m back in Birmingham. Between the daily specials and the regular menu items, the food is wonderful and fresh. The atmosphere is casual, comfortable, and much nicer than a fast food restaurant!. Oh how I wish we had a Taziki’s in the Destin/Fort Walton Beach area!Parking: There is a large, free parking lot in front, but it can be a little difficult to find parking around peak lunch hours. This lot is shared by other restaurants and is in the midst of a busy business complex, so this definitely can cut into availability.“
“I really enjoy the healthy choices Tzatziki’s offers. Their food is very good, and I know it is good for me!Parking: The parking is adequate. If it is during a busy time, parking is limited, but most of the time it is easy to find a parking space.“
“Honestly I’m never disappointed when I go whether I order online, delivery, or eat in. I’m only surprised I took this long to finally review. My two personal favorites are the salmon feast and the Monday special: chicken portobello sandwich!“
“I did my order online and it was ready when I arrived. The atmosphere was really nice and the hostess was really friendly. The food was amazing. I ordered the family chicken meal and the grilled fish meal.Vegetarian options: GreekSalads, Cesar salad, Mediterranean salad roasted potatoes, Basmati rice and hummus“
“We found Sarris on our way thru town headed to a Sunday afternoon program we were doing. The reviews looked great and the meat and two was especially appetizing! The cafeteria style service line is quick and the servers are on the spot with your order. On this day they had a variety of meats ( snapper, grouper, crab cakes, bbq pork loin, and country fried steak). They had plenty of veggies to choose from and the desserts were out of this world!!Great find off the beaten path a bit, but worth the detour off the interstate to get a great lunch!“
“We LOVE Taziki’s Chase Lake!!! Alix and Casey are running an amazing store. The service is always top notch. The food is fresh and delicious. I love the homemade Cesar dressing, beef (always cooked perfect), pasta salad, tomato chutney dip, I could go on and on! This store is also always clean and we love coming for the holidays and seeing how beautifully they decorate!“
