Southern Ale House Reviews
I love having Dockside open up Hwy 43 to give us another option for dinner close to home! If you haven’t tried the fried shrimp or the catfish, you’re definitely missing out! There’s just something extra about the breading that had me eating ALL my shrimp and not sharing with my husband! 🤣
Highly recommend checking it out!
this review is for dockside on lake tuscaloosa. Our third visit and it's not been positive. I know everyone loves it, but it can't be for the food or service! I ordered fish, which was very uncooked, they did remove from the bill thank you. one person had prime rib that was really good but more fat than meat, but no complaint. we ordered drinks that one alcohol( captain morgan) they dont serve. . the lake atmosphere is what's drawing your customers, it's not the food! Went to Southern Ale House Dockside on Lake Tuscaloosa last night to listen to live music band Second Chance. So much fun! Service was excellent (thanks Lauren) and food was wonderful. Salmon was outstanding. Bama Chicken Sliders and drinks were great too. Nice open space can accommodate big groups. Highly recommend.

Southern Ale House Dockside is a waterfront restaurant in Alabama, offering a casual lunch or dinner outing. The food and service are often top notch, with standout meals like the coconut crusted cod, ribeye with mashed potatoes, Caesar salad, and biscuits with pork skins and buffalo pimiento cheese. However, the bacon wrapped meatloaf is not recommended. Service is exceptional, with servers who are super attentive and friendly, keeping food piping hot and drinks flowing. The atmosphere is laid back with a dose of music by the lake, and the outdoor area is a must for a great view of Tuscaloosa lake. While some reviews mention slow service and lukewarm food, others praise the warm, welcoming hospitality. The place is a nice spot to sit, relax, and enjoy company, though seating could be improved with booths.
