Buenavista Mexican Cantina Reviews
We go to Buenavista ONLY if Nelson - the bar tender is there. He is unbelievable and very caring and attending and honestly makes 150% of the great experience for us there! Well, the food is great too, and the atmosphere is cozy and inviting. Thank You, Nelson !
I only recommended Buenavista because "usually" the food is good. Most recently, I ordered the California Burrito with chicken. It should have been called a rice Burrito. Maybe 5 pieces of Chicken. Very little beans. I don't recommend this item.
This is the first place I go when visiting every few months from Southern Illinois. Great food and fantastic service everytime! Fiesta Dip is AMAZING and I'd love that recipe😉!

Buenavista Mexican Cantina offers a casual dining experience with a mix of positive and mixed reviews. The restaurant is praised for its friendly staff, fast service, and enjoyable decor, creating a welcoming atmosphere. Many diners appreciate the reasonable prices and the fun, relaxing environment. The food receives mixed feedback: some highlight the freshness and good flavor of dishes like the Nachos Al Pastor and David’s Carnitas, with the grilled pineapple on the nachos being a particular favorite. However, others find the food lacking seasoning or note that it has changed over time, with some dishes not meeting expectations or arriving incorrectly, such as plain chicken tamales instead of the expected tamales fabulosos with carnitas. Chips and salsa are described as greasy, stale, or unexceptional, though the crispy chips in the Nachos Al Pastor are highly recommended. Service is generally friendly, but at times distracted or not very helpful, leading to some frustrations like being left without chips or issues with dish accuracy. Despite these inconsistencies, many guests enjoy their visits, especially the margaritas and fajitas, and plan to return. The overall experience combines good food, friendly service, and a lively atmosphere, making Buenavista Mexican Cantina a popular spot for casual Mexican cuisine.
