“My husband and I love Golden City! We started going 3 years ago, and it has consistently been our favorite place in the area. We love their sushi rolls, sweet and sour chicken, and hibachi. My favorite is the egg drop soup. Not only is the food fantastic, but we always love the incredible service that Golden City provides.“

“I love this restaurant. The staff is very friendly, and the head cashier is even fluent in 3 languages. They're food is very delicious, and my favorites are Beef broccoli, Mongolian Beef, and tempura shrimp. They're portions are guaranteed to feed a family. You definitely get you're money's worth. “If Google got rid of all the reviews more than a few years old, this place would have a perfect five-star rating. Clean. Simple aesthetic. Japanese caliber service and respect from staff. Great portions. Incredible value. Had sashimi, sushi rolls, rice, and soup. Five stars on every single item. Even the vegetables were incredibly fresh alongside the other food items mentioned. Nothing frozen. I will be back, and I will be back often. They even have an incredibly good little menu for kids. So glad to find traditional Japanese food and culture so close to home in Hoover and Bluff Park.“

“Indoor shopping mall food courts usually have a hibachi styled one and this is exactly it. Been visiting for a few years now and the quality is still as good as it gets. Prices aren’t too bad and the serving portion is pretty big. Recently I tried their steak and it’s pretty good (medium rare). Their sauce is mostly on the sweet side so don’t ask them to put extra if you’re not a fan of that. Service is pretty quick but a queue builds during rush hour.“

“They have a good variety of sushi as well as appetizers and other Japanese dishes. My absolute favorite is their tuna tartar appetizer. They have some crunch added to the meat that gives it a nice texture while not affecting the flavor. I also tried the cucumber wrapped sushi. Not bad, I just felt that the sauce needed to be a bit thicker to stick to the cucumber. So flavor was a bit lacking when eaten even though it is on the plate in front of you.“

“Food is always amazing. Service is good. The atmosphere would be great….. if you didn’t hear the happy birthday song blaring. It makes it impossible to feel romantic which is a shame because they remodeled and it’s beautiful. But then HAPPY BIRTHDAY comes on and when I say it’s loud I mean it is loud. I don’t know if the owner thought it was a good idea to do that or who but it definitely makes me want to get my food to go.

My suggestion lower the volume of the song and play it only on the hibachi side of the restaurant. Or just get the person serving them to wish them a happy birthday.“

“Food was good. Family enjoyed. They even had pizza, fries, chicken wings, and fish for the kids. If there taste buds aren't ready for the great variety of foods on the buffet. The buffet, also includes the Hibachi grill-to -order, food selection if you choose.“

“My friends and I went to SUMO sushi to celebrate a birthday. We were met with such personable staff members. Joy, our waitress, was so precious and often met our comments with an enthusiastic "yes." The food was delicious and the value for quantity was wonderful! An entree meal included a protein, a salad, a soup, noodles, vegetables, and rice for around $24. Thank you SUMO for the wonderful experience!“

“Hostess service was extremely slow. So I was worried the rest of the experience would be bad too.
Once you get seated at the Hibachi grill everything was phenomenal!!
The Chicken and Scallops were perfectly cooked and the fried rice was second to none! Best rice I've ever had. Portion sizes were impressive. I haven't stopped craving Stix since I went. Definitely planning multiple trips back. Best restaurant in Hoover in my opinion“
