About Hot Springs National Park
Hot Springs National Park Reviews
As a Hot Springs native, I’ve always considered the National Park the heart of our town. The trails, the historic bathhouses, and the mountain views are part of daily life here, not just a tourist stop. It’s where locals go to recharge, connect with nature, and share our heritage with visitors. Having such a beautiful park right in the middle of our city is something we’re proud of—it truly makes Hot Springs special.

The Hot Springs National Park offers a unique urban experience, featuring a welcoming visitor center, abundant shopping and dining options, and a rich history. Visitors can explore the medicinal properties of the hot spring water, with the historic bathhouses providing insight into its ties to early American baseball and the park's dual history as a health and wellness destination and a spot for gambling and gangsters. The bathhouses on Bath House Row are a must-see, offering a glimpse into the park’s history and a chance to experience the baths firsthand.
Beyond the city area, visitors are encouraged to enjoy the mountain hikes, nature, and geology that make the park special. The best hike is from North Mountain to Gulpha Gorge, where hikers can take a dip in the water before heading back up the mountain and over to Goat Trail Vista. This route offers some steep sections but rewards with amazing views. For those interested in collecting water, there are public fountains where they can grab some of the hot spring water, which is very hot.
The park's blend of urban and natural elements is a highlight, with over 20 hiking trails and opportunities to spot wildlife, such as deer. Trail maps are very helpful, detailing difficulty and length, making it easier for both beginners and experienced hikers to explore. Visitors are also advised to bring plenty of empty containers to take home some of the hot spring water as a souvenir.
While the park is small and crowded, it provides a rich history and unique outdoor activities. The architecture of the bathhouses is distinctive, and visiting them is considered an essential part of the experience. Overall, Hot Springs National Park offers a memorable mix of history, nature, and relaxation.
