“The resort was very relaxing. We rented the kitchenette. It was perfect for the 2 of us. There were small things I could knit pick about, but I am not high maintenance and it didn’t affect our stay.Fishing was terrible, but that’s not Anglers fault. We drove up to Calico Rock and over to Mirror Lake. Still caught nothing.Ate dinner at Anglers restaurant. It was very pleasing. We had catfish and trout. Smaller quantities than most places, but we didn’t have to take leftovers home.Definitely wished they had a fire pit out back. That would have topped off the week.“
“Another absolute gem! Love the decor! Beautiful setting, great atmosphere! The steak is the best I've ever had!!! No lie! The staff were all laughing with each other and customers, almost felt like we were part of the gang lol. I like that! Definitely A+++“
“Being a Clinician Im very picky! Especially, with a spouse who was a trained chief with a friend who graduated from Culinary Institute of America! They have Great food! They go out of there way to make sure to make food with culinary expertise! The staff is great as well! This is a must “
“Got it to go so the atmosphere was the beautiful day we are having today. Ordered the Catfish basket (large portion of fish) w/ onion rings and the Shrimp basket w/ tater tots. Smells absolutely amazing! I will edit this if the taste does not match the smell. Can’t wait to eat!“
“Ordered the Mammoth Cheeseburger. A thick, juicy patty that looked and tasted like the delicious old-fashioned fried burger you long for. Great flavor, hearty beef and fresh crisp lettuce, tomato, and red onion on top. Fried pickles are long-sliced spears and medium-thin with spicy batter and ranch dressing for dipping.“
“The only reason we gave you five stars is because there is not a six-star option. This place is phenomenal. They treat you like family from the moment you walk in the door and they feed you even better. The food is fresh hot and homemade. My sister asked for an egg on top of her double cheeseburger double cheeseburger. Without blinking an eye the young man asked, "How would you like it cooked?" Thank you SPAH, for a memorable experience on our sister trip. It was also very touching that the restaurant got its name from the grandmother of the owner.“
“The service staff are very friendly and attentive. The main dining room has a beautiful cathedral ceiling. Relics from decades past decorate the dining room. The dinner buffet on this particular night included sliced roast beef, hamburger steak, teriyaki chicken with rice, bbq chicken wings, mashed potatoes, fried sweet potatoes, fried potatoes, corn, turnip greens, brown gravy, and baked cabbage wedges. Yeast rolls and cornbread were available as well as a salad bar. This restaurant offers real butter in little sealer cups for customers' use. IMO this puts them a step above many other restaurants that use margarine instead of butter. Desserts included some kind of cobbler and a pudding parfait. Their iced tea is fresh brewed. Although the buffet isn't a large buffet, the selection of meats and vegetables are ample for a pleasant meal reminiscent of grandma's southern home cooking.“
“Went yesterday with our riding group. Service was amazing. The food was hot, good size and delicious. Would recommend stopping in. The view was great from the inside or patio. Everything we ordered was great, alligator bites, steak,pork fried fritter, rib eye, poor boys.“
“If I could give this place a billion stars I would! Dining out experiences have been awful for years, but this little, unassuming, hole in the wall place was exceptional! Food, service, atmosphere, vibe was exactly perfect! 1st time I throughly enjoyed dining out in years. My only negative is that I didn’t tip more! You guys rock, and I do appreciate your effort in good food and service!“
