About Planet X Cafe

Planet X Cafe, located within Lowell Observatory, offers a surprisingly tasty and convenient dining experience for visitors. The cafe features a variety of hot and cold food options, making it a great alternative to typical museum fare. Notable menu items include the 'Cosmic Carnitas' sandwich, the Turkey Tombaugh with cheese, artichokes, and spicy mayonnaise, and hot sandwiches like the Kuiper Belt Cuban and The Big Dipper, which impressed many with their crisp, toasted bread and flavorful fillings. The homemade focaccia, pasta salad, and freshly made potato salad are popular sides, while cookies and hot chocolate delight kids. The space-themed names add a fun touch, and the view from the cafe’s patio, especially in the evening, is considered "killer" and worth the drive. The cafe is praised for friendly service, reasonable prices, and a cozy atmosphere that encourages guests to relax and enjoy a meal without leaving the observatory. Many reviewers highlight that Planet X Cafe surpasses typical museum eateries by providing delicious, well-prepared food in a charming setting, making it a perfect spot for a full day or night visit to Lowell Observatory.

We really enjoyed looking through the telescopes! We didn’t know Pluto was discovered here. Loved it!
