Outstanding restaurant near the top of the Mount Lemmon Summit drive. Found this totally by accident. Great find. Great food. Plenty of parking. Super friendly waitstaff. The chili is really good. Sandwiches were nicely done (really liked the ultimate grilled cheese with the chili). BUT. SAVE ROOM FOR PIE!!! They have amazing pies for dessert. Had the cherry and it was really good. Highly recommended.
We decided to take a drive up the mountain for lunch. We hadn't been to the Iron Door for several years. The dining room is the same, small, very few tables but clean. Their menu was appetizers, salads, soups and sandwiches. No burgers or fried food. I had the Claim Jumper which is a French Dip. The portion was very small, but tasty. The au jus came in a little plastic condiment cup. It was hard to get a good dip. I opted for a salad upgrade rather than the sides offered....
Their menu is primarily sandwiches that you can make yourself for 8x cheaper.
They give kids a package of Oreos with their meals 🤮
Such a nice location and historical building, it's a shame their menu is less than.
