“This is the most authentic hawaii fast restaurant my family and I have been too since we moved here from Vegas 3 years ago. The food is ridiculously delicious and huge amount for your money. I will most certainly be coming back here whenever we are craving real Hawaiian food. It’s a 35 minutes drive well worth more with traffic but it’s ok.“

“So we weren’t planning BBQ for dinner, but we were picking up my car from next door at North Mountain Auto (great mechanics by the way!) and my husband and I smelled something amazing from Hek yeah. We immediately knew what was for dinner and went in to order. The service was excellent and the restaurant itself is nice! We are big supporters of small, local businesses and this is now added to our list of favorite places. The food was great and the pricing was reasonable. “I came here with a group to experience all the activities of a Tuesday night. There was music bingo, line dancing (with lessons), and karaoke. The food was pretty good, and came out quickly. The waitress was a little inattentive but she may have had her hands full with tables. They seemed short staffed. Overall the atmosphere was welcoming to newcomers and return customers alike. The activities were engaging and without a fee. I'm definitely coming back, whether with this group or not.“

“Top Black Eats in Phoenix an Absolute favorite! My favorite is the catfish, real authentic nice sized filets! Not that frozen packaged fish, Reggie’s fry’s REAL sea fish all the way through crispy and seasoned very good. Also the fried chicken is sooo good! You won’t need any sauce but their MILD sauce is the best, a savory ketchup set apart from other restaurants.“

“Can't get enough of their baby back ribs, and their to go service is awesome. Usually dine in at Surprise location, which is always busy, but they have good bar service. But usually get it to go at their Tatum location. Not the best steaks in town, but worth the visit and price is good.“

“Tucked deep within the Hilton resort grounds, Hole in Wall BBQ offers a casual and inviting atmosphere. With its unassuming name and reputation, I arrived with high expectations. While the experience was pleasant overall, the meal delivered a mix of highs and lows.

First, the setting. Despite ongoing construction that limits parking and requires a bit of navigation, the space is remarkably clean. The staff is incredibly warm and attentive. There was no wait to be seated, and the tables offer ample space for those with mobility challenges. These elements created a welcoming and relaxed environment to begin the evening.

The menu is modest, which often signals a focus on quality. I opted for the Smoked St. Louis Ribs with grilled vegetables and fries. The ribs arrived fall-off-the-bone tender, a promising start but lacked the depth of seasoning expected from a barbecue establishment. The sauce leaned heavily toward store-bought familiarity rather than a house-crafted blend with unique character.

The grilled vegetable side was notably underwhelming. Composed almost entirely of onions with a sparse showing of bell peppers, it missed the balance expected from the menu description. However, the fries and onion rings were both crisp and expertly executed; a highlight of the plate.

It is worth noting that the team is currently operating out of a food truck instead of a full-service kitchen. This certainly explains some of the constraints in execution. I chose not to rate this experience lower because of the genuinely pleasant atmosphere and the staff’s evident dedication to service.

Hole in Wall BBQ has potential. Once construction is complete and operations return to a traditional kitchen setup, I look forward to revisiting. There is heart behind the hospitality. With a few culinary adjustments, this could become a standout destination in Phoenix's BBQ scene.“
