“If you’re at Crystal Mall and don’t know what to eat, try this place. The fish soup base is amazing, the fish is super fresh, and the price is great. definitely worth it.

“Delicious food! Chicken ramen is super rich and creamy, noodles is nice and aldente. I ran here after work and got here two minutes before closing, owner was super nice and was able to make me a bowl of ramen in 5 minutes! “There were a few empty tables when we came at 10:30 on Sunday, but by 11 the place became packed.

Following reviews here, we took xiao long bao and pan fried soup noodles at Shanghai Dimsum. The taste and texture was about 1000x better than what we had in places like Din Tai Fung. And ridiculously cheap: 10 CAD for 5 dumplings. Well worth the drive from Seattle just to have breakfast here.“

“This place has a non-stop line of people ordering and you can tell why. Their speciality is the Taiwanese style fried chicken leg (boneless) or their Taiwanese salty fried chicken nuggets combo with rice and 3 sides they give you. Before I get into their deliciousness of the chicken, their sides are killer too. They give you a handful of veggies of the day, a thick piece of matinated tofu patty, and soya sauce marinated egg. Protein heaven already. Their chicken is so freshly deep fried, just the right amount of spices, hot, juicy and tender on the inside. Sprinkle some of their red powder on the side if you want more heat. Their portion is huge! They don't skimp out at all! I normally eat 3/4 and pack the rest home. All for $15! Bring cash as with all Richmond vendors!“

“Legitimate carnitas. Like straight off the beach at a food truck with a bottle of cerveza from a cooler and a bag of salsa to toss on your taco while sitting on the beach kind of legit.
Nothing like it exists in Vancouver; if you want a really authentic Mexican carnitas just go here.

“Parker Good Food at Parker Place is a fantastic choice for a satisfying meal. Their Hong Kong-style curry beef and chicken are excellent, bursting with rich flavors. The BBQ pork on rice is equally delightful. They offer a great lunch special for just $15, making it a terrific value. Plus, the convenience of ordering through the telephone is a real bonus. Friendly service and delicious food make this spot a must-visit in the food court!“

“You will need to swipe your membership card to order now. This store has the outside eating area with bar height tables, which is convenient for cart-parking next to your table and doggie friendly. We have to wait 20 minutes during lunch hours on weekend to get our hot dogs and one piece of pizza. Noted the fries price has increased.“

I can honestly say i have never had better fries in my life! This place truley is a staple and one of the must buy from joints whenever i am in the richmond area!“

“Tried the Cumin Crispy Burger (Beef) and it was seriously good — super fragrant cumin, juicy beef, and the bread was perfectly crispy.
I went pretty late, but the owner was still very welcoming and happy to serve.

“I’ve wanted to visit an actual Bubble Waffle Café ever since encountering them at the Richmond Night Market. I recall being quite taken by their strawberry-flavoured bubble waffle at the time and, upon learning that they had brick and mortar locations, added them to my “must try” list of restaurants. That was in 2017. Up until fairly recently, I’d assumed there were only a couple locations in Richmond and nothing more. Imagine my surprise, then, when I visited their official website and saw that they currently have 19 locations across the Greater Vancouver Area . . . a few of which are in areas I frequent with some regularity. How the heck did I fail to notice this before? Oh well! At least now I didn’t have to go all the way out to Richmond just to try Bubble Waffle! What I find interesting is that I was only introduced to Bubble Waffle a few years ago, yet it’s been in Richmond since at least 2011 and has expanded in strides over the last near decade. Specializing in Hong Kong street foods, the Bubble Waffle Café menu highlights and features a number of tantalizing snack and combo options: Curry fish ball, twist potato, rice rolls, stinky tofu, noodle combos, Hong Kong-style waffles, bubble waffles and teas. One of the big attractions of Bubble Waffle Café is the soup combos because you can create your own bowl of noodles with any combination of soup base, noodle type and (two) toppings. Many in Vancouver’s food blogging community – Foodology, Dennis the Foodie, Gastrofork, Picky Diners and Foodgressing – have spoken favourably of the soup combos as offering great value for money, which typically clock in at around $12 to $15. For a quick lunch, that’s a pretty decent value for sure. That said, the Bubble Waffle Café name is actually kind of curious, if you think about. When I first spied a brick and mortar location just off Steveston Highway, I wondered what they had beyond bubble waffles. Naturally, I assumed it would be a dessert-themed place; so, to learn that soups and other savouries rounded out the menu versus Asian desserts was rather surprising. In fact, the bubble waffle is more of a side item than anything else. I know, mind blown! Anyway, I found myself in Vancouver’s bustling City Square Shopping Centre where there just so happens to be a Bubble Waffle Café kiosk. I figured this would be a good time to finally scratch this restaurant off my “must try” foodie list. It’s obviously very popular with the lunch crowd as there was a bit of a line, even during a pandemic. When it was finally my turn, I decided to keep it light. I ordered the fried shrimp ball, original bubble waffle, and an iced lemon tea. My total bill was a very respectable $12, so I definitely can’t argue about the price. Overall, I enjoyed my light meal. The shrimp balls were plentiful (8 of them), had a nice exterior crunch and tasted fresh. I should note that I saw many of the food bloggers comment that they liked the shrimp balls BUT wished it came with sauce for an added note of flavour. I guess Bubble Waffle listened because my shrimp balls did come with a delightful sauce which, thankfully, did not overpower the delicate flavours of the shrimp. I also very much enjoyed the original bubble waffle. The parts around the “bubbles” were crispy while the bubbles themselves were soft; thus, you’re given two lovely textures in a single bite. Now, I’m not sure if it’s just my imagination, but it seemed like the bubble waffle offering here was much larger – more generous – than what was had at the Richmond Night Market? Finally, the iced lemon tea was okay, but I did find it overly sweet for my taste. FOOD: 3/5 SERVICE: 4/5 VALUE: 4/5 RECOMMENDATION: While I enjoyed the food, the magic of the bubble waffle seemed to dissipate without the raucous environment of the Night Market as backdrop. I’d return to a Bubble Waffle Café again, but would probably go for one of the soup combos next time. Recommended. “Great value for their boiled dumplings: 8 beef for $8 or 10 pork for $8. I tried the pork & cabbage dumplings. Very generous amount of meat filling inside, almost too much. I wish the dumpling wrapper was rolled out just slightly bit thicker than it is because I think thickness would improve the overall texture and chewiness, and would have helped balance out the massive filling.

Overall quality and taste was very decent, maybe just a shade below R&H in Richmond and Shanghai Dimsum just few stores down, but the overall value is unbeatable.“

“It is actually good value to order half a Hainanese chicken combo, including oil white rice and a broth on the side. It is big enough for 2 people. I will definitely come back.
Their service is fast. At lunch rush, Empire Centre food court is a busy place. So, even the vendor prepares your food fast, you may still need to be patient to locate a table.“

Bourbon chicken? Sweet, sticky, and smoky.
Cajun butter chicken? Spicy, rich, that melt in your mouth vibe.
Pepper beef? Tender with that sharp, punchy kick.
The meat is tender, the portions are enooooormous, and after our second visit, we can confidently say this spot is creeping its way onto our favorites list. Definitely one to revisit (or officially mark as loved).“

“My mom has been buying their food for 17+ years, either as takeaway meals or as big platters for parties and I am literally so attached to their food. I always feel so happy and comforted on days I get to dig into their crispy squid, tofu dishes, and fried rice!! Not the healthiest food, but definitely a wonderful treat once in a while. Please stay in business forever, I will be absolutely distraught and weeping if you close HAHA“

“Such a great find at Metrotown! The falafel plate was ginormous. You get so much for a decent price. I was lucky to get falafel made fresh. Great sides to add, and very vegetarian friendly. They also take Bravo which was a bonus for me and staff were very accommodating! Will be back“

Was craving dry noodles and went for the Stir-Fry Lamb w/Cilantro dry noodle. The flavouring and taste was amazing - strong cumin ✨A very generous portion of noodles and lamb. However, I was expecting the noodles to be different. I briefly saw some illustrations on the counter about making noodles so assumed they would be homemade. The noodles felt like spaghetti noodles. All in all, still thoroughly enjoyed my meal and would come back for this, maybe try to change the noodles.

I went to grab cash before coming to the food court only to find they have a self-serve machine that takes card. Made the whole ordering process easy and smooth. There were also photos on the machine. Pleasantly surprised. Human service was mediocre but we didn’t come here for the service.“

“The food court at Harbour Centre DT is quite large. Wanted to get a hot lunch on a cold day, we gave Little Japan a try.
Ordered their Teriyaki Beef Rice & Veggies, and Teriyaki Chicken, Noodles & Veggies.
Portions for both dishes were quite big.
The Teriyaki Chicken was tender & good, however, the Teriyaki Beef was a bit chewy.
If the veggies in the dishes could be more tender & hotter, it would be better. The sauce was quite salty IMO. We were quite thirsty afterwards.“

“Honestly don’t know why this place is called Wu Fung Dessert when they don’t sell any desserts at all. I was doing a Richmond food court crawl and visited Aberdeen Centre to try out the chicken wings here. This seems to be one of the most popular, if not the most popular, place to go in this food court according to online food bloggers. Other notable places include Champion Potato Noodles, John 3:16, etc., but this one stood out the most to me.

Prices seem a bit expensive, at $8 for 3 wings (very minor discount if you buy more, with $15.50 for 6 ($0.50 discount) or $30 for 12 ($2 discount). However, the wings were full on wings with drum, flat, and tip, so it’s not that bad, but still not cheap.

I got a few wings to try out myself first and I have to say that they’re one of the best (Chinese fried) wings I’ve ever had. It’s hot, juicy, crispy and has a simple, yet addicting seasoning. It’s slightly different from the Chinese American fried wings as it has less of a batter and less garlic, and more peppery. It was so good I opted to buy the 12 wing option after, but the taste after bringing them home was incomparable with eating them on the spot.

I also got HK style milk tea for $3.50. I don’t know why being cold warrants it being $0.50 more than hot, but whatever.

Despite me praising the food here, I think the service wasn’t good. They gave me one box that didn’t fit 12 wings at all, completely unacceptable. I asked for another box, but no, boxes and bags cost extra. Makes no sense to me to serve someone like this. Lady at counter was also not so friendly, but whatever. I was mainly annoyed at how they packed the wings.“

“My usual go to place a couple stalls down, Shanghai dim sum house, is closed on Wednesday, but this place is another great place open with same price and still excellent quality. Crispy exterior and full of soup, the pan fried pork buns are excellent. It does have a slightly different flavour than the other restaurant, which is neither good nor bad; I like both! Next time I will try to XLB as I only had appetite for one dish as a snack on the go today.“

“Very delicious Chinese chives dumplings(韭菜盒子） - extra large in size with al dente wrappings Lam fried. We liked it so much we even bought some frozen ones to enjoy at home. Lots of variations to select from. We saw many people coming in to buy the frozen dumplings this afternoon. Owner speaks English and Mandarin. Very authentic stuff!“
