“I recently had an experience at Wendy’s that highlighted an opportunity for operational improvement. During late-night hours, the ordering system was down for approximately an hour, and there was no manager present to support the team. This created a challenging situation for frontline employees, who were left to manage a high volume of understandably frustrated customers many of whom were unable to pay due to the lack of cash alternatives.

The staff handled the situation as best as they could under the circumstances; however, it is clear they would benefit from stronger on-site leadership and support during these predictable system downtimes. Scheduling a manager during late night shifts, particularly when system interruptions are anticipated, would help ensure smoother operations, better customer communication, and a more positive experience for both employees and guests.
