About Clayoquot Campus - čukʷaa haʔuk cafe

Located on The Clayoquot Campus within the Naa'Waya'Sum Gardens, the čukʷaa haʔuk Cafe (pronounced CHOO-kwa ha-OOK) is a hidden gem. Chef and owner Lisa Ahier, formerly of the famous SoBo restaurant, brings passion and skill to the menu, which is led by what's fresh and shaped by the weather. Fresh, local ingredients made with love result in extraordinary food. Guests enjoyed the Polenta Fries, a Latte with a Vanilla Shot, curried lentil soup with a large crispy biscuit, and the Wild Salmon Chowder. The chocolate hazelnut cookie and carrot cake are also sublime. The cafe offers delicious, flavourful food and house-made cold, refreshing drinks. The service is fantastic, with kind staff creating a safe haven to recharge, relax, and restore. The grounds are lovely, with calm nature for al-fresco ambience, though care is needed on pathways for accessibility. The space has so much intention, with a spirit of wholeness. It is decent value for money and a place to visit multiple times.

The čukʷaa haʔuk Cafe which is pronounced as CHOO-kwa ha-OOK is located on The Clayoquot Campus and located within the Naa'Waya'Sum Gardens.

What really stood out to me though was the passion and passion Chef Lisa Ahier had for her food.
I didn’t realize when coming here that Chef Lisa was actually on Dragons Den in 2020. Though I didn’t try her Chowder, sadly, I heard her Wild Salmon Chowder is amazing and definitely worth a try. I personally...read full review

Don't tell anyone about this gem. With Lisa Ahier, chef and owner of the famous SoBo restaurant at the helm you will want to eat here multiple times as we did during our brief stay in town.
Fresh, local ingredients made with love and skill result in extraordinary food.
Don't expect a wide variety or specific menu items. The menu is led by what's fresh and shaped by the weather.
Can't recommend this enough.

As to the garden, I would say to take care on the pathways...read full review

So happy to discover that Lia Ahier is back at the old Botanical Garden (where she started up many years ago in a little food truck) and serving up delicious food in the cafe. We had a very tasty curried lentil soup with a large crispy biscuit and both were out of this world delicious. We enjoyed our lunch immensely and will certainly be back. So happy to find the chocolate hazelnut cookie again that I used to enjoy at SoBo!
