Sorry, nothing Belgian about these fries. They are nearly identical to white Spot fries. I assumed they would use beef tallow, but it appears they use that awful standard, canola. This darkens the fries as they cook. Tallow keeps the fry light and crispy and a far better taste. The burger was great as was the garlic mayo. But overall very canadian.
I asked the Internet for the best poutine in Vancouver and it brought me here. After finding some ultra-convenient street parking for the Sprinter van, I was inside and smelling that delicious smell of fried foods. A quick study of the menu - 18 different poutines available plus hot dogs and sandwiches and burgers - I made my choice.Ten minutes later, I'm digging in to number 14, the "Smoked Beef" which is a Montreal-style smoked beef on top of classic poutine. For a place that revolves around fries, they sure serve terrible ketchup! If you’re going to make it yourself, at least use a good recipe. This stuff tastes like watered down tomato paste with sugar mixed in. Will bring my own next time.
