To Live For Bakery & Cafe is a 100% vegan bakery known for its amazing food, great service, and cozy atmosphere. The Coconut Lemon Loaf is a standout, with some visitors going out of their way to buy a whole loaf to take home. The bakery's pastries, such as the banana bread, are often described as legendary and some of the best baked goods in Vancouver, whether vegan or not. The cafe offers delicious caramel lattes with perfectly foamy vegan milk, and their breakfast sandwiches, including the croissant breakfast sandwich and muffin breakfast sandwich, are highly praised for being incredible and affordable. The inside has a minimal yet warm vibe, making it a perfect spot to catch up with friends or relax with a laptop. Staff are welcoming, quick, and clearly proud of their offerings.
The food at To Live For is amazing, with vegan breakfast croissant sandwiches and a wide variety of pastries, plus standard (vegan) cafe drinks. Visitors have enjoyed the cheese scone, pain au chocolat, and the Nanaimo bar center, which has a pure white chocolate flavor and feel. The cafe can be busy and loud, so it's recommended to take food elsewhere or enjoy the outdoor seating if weather permits. There is bike parking outside, and street parking is available, though on weekends it may be necessary to park on a side street. Inside and outside seating is offered; the outdoor area faces west, so bringing a warm jacket is advised if sitting outside in the shade. Staff are very nice, and they even provided a free item when one was missing from an order.
Many customers noted the delicious food and drinks, including the best vegan cream cheese frosting on the cinnamon bun and a tasty raspberry matcha drink. Despite long lines, service moves pretty quickly. The cafe is popular with families who bike there, and there is a cute indoor area for kids. The outdoor seating for people with dogs can be a bit cramped when busy, especially on Saturday mornings. Overall, To Live For Bakery & Cafe remains a favorite spot for vegan baked goods and cozy atmosphere.
