Delicious food, reasonable prices, easy parking in Downtown, great service, kid-friendly, large venue. Been coming here for 30+ years and is our go-to yum cha place.
Closed August 1,2025. Visited one last time
Late Post: Although never advertised, found out this restaurant was closing, so for nostalgia decided to support them one last time while in downtown. I think last time I was here was over six years ago, but it was a frequent choice twenty plus years ago.
Notice on door confirmed they would be closing as of August 1, 2025 after 33 years of serving up authentic Hong Kong-style dim sum.

Victoria Chinese Restaurant 悅海大酒家 offers excellent food, especially the soya sauce chicken, which stands out amongst other Vancouver restaurants. The dim sum menu includes har gao shrimp dumplings, shao mai pork shrimp dumplings, fried tofu, and fried squid. The steamed rice rolls are chewy and flavorful, while the sesame mochi with peanuts dessert is a highlight. The restaurant is located in the busy downtown area next to the Burrard skytrain station, making it a convenient spot for both locals and visitors. It is perfect for a family dinner or a business lunch, especially on Sundays when there is no wait for dim sum. Customers have praised the friendly and attentive staff who refill tea and replace plates promptly. The space is spacious and airy, creating a comfortable dining environment. The restaurant also offers free underground parking, which is convenient for guests. The dishes are flavorful and generous in portion, although the prices are on the higher side, and there is a credit card surcharge some customers find unnecessary. Overall, Victoria Chinese Restaurant remains a popular choice for authentic Cantonese dim sum and good food in downtown Vancouver.
