Whenever we are in Whistler we make a point of going to Alta Bistro. It's one of the best restaurants in the village. Staff are so knowledgeable and friendly. The food is always fantastic. Fresh, local, small menu but always executed perfectly. A real hidden gem. Not a chain like a lot of the restaurants in Whistler. Support a local business!!

The 4-course menu remains a great value, with the spring dining special featuring 3 courses for $42 or $52. The menu is ever-evolving, showcasing seasonal ingredients and creative dishes like the carrot salad with cashew chevre and cavatelli pasta with mushroom sauce and shaved truffles. The knowledgeable staff accommodates dietary restrictions and provides an excellent wine list and botanical mixed drinks. The ambiance is pleasant, although some feel the decor and atmosphere could better match its French fine dining aspirations. The kitchen staff works hard to deliver an amazing experience, highlighted by standout dishes like the pistachio mousse dessert. Guests have praised the salmon, elk, and halibut, with many noting the bavette steak as outstanding. The sourdough bread is a must-try, along with the delicious venison tartare and clam and chanterelle risotto. The strawberry-infused gin and tonic has been noted as possibly the best cocktail of the year. The service has received high marks for being fantastically attentive, making it a great place to enjoy a meal with family and friends.
