My son wanted Subway before coming here, but the owner insisted on him trying his food so gave us a taster for my son while my daughter fully enjoyed her amazing steak and rice. “About two weeks ago, I went to some Hawaiian barbecue for the first time and I didn’t even know who Hawaii barbecue was a thing and they gave me mac & cheese and the thin steak thing and it was so good. It was amazing that on the car ride home I even ate my leftovers and they had five stars. I don’t know the name now this place I was trying to relive that experience and they had 4.7 stars so I was thinking Man they’d be really good but their menu was very bland and they didn’t even have mac & cheese or the thin steak thing. They just had rice and very basic chicken and steak and I mean it wasn’t bad and they were friendly, but in no way wasn’t special.“

“We travel throughout California to visit our ʻohana and spend time at the theme parks with our na moʻopuna. Carlsbad is one of those places we return to a few times a year, always fun to explore.
After a long day at Legoland, we were exhausted and hungry. I was craving for some onolicious Hawaiian plate lunch, and if I had to be honest, that can be so risky on the continent. Some places that make Hawaiian food are not always the greatest, although Yelp or other platforms say they are. So, it's really scary, but I am glad we took the chance and ordered through DoorDash because we were also too tired to drive. And OMG, what a surprise.
From the very first bite, it felt like home. The rice was perfect, but the mac salad? HEAVEN...And the BBQ chicken was so soft, tender, juicy, and seasoned just right. You could taste the paʻakai, that unmistakable Hawaiian salt, hitting the palate in the best way.
Mahalo nui loa to Ohana Hawaiian BBQ for bringing authentic meaʻai to the continent. You gave us comfort when we needed it the most.

“Fresh and Delicious Hawaiian Poke in San Diego

For my first meal in San Diego, I chose Hawaiian poke, and it was the perfect choice! I had salmon and spicy tuna over brown rice, topped with avocado and spicy sauce. Every ingredient was incredibly fresh, and the flavors blended beautifully. The spicy sauce added a nice kick, making every bite even more enjoyable.

On top of that, the staff was very friendly, which made the experience even better. It was a fantastic way to start my trip, and I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for fresh and delicious poke in San Diego!“

The portions a great. The flavors are up there.

I didn't like that the crispy chicken scratches your mouth.

The beef as soon tasty, the bbq sauce is on the ketchup side (tomato based)

Something for the whole family here.
Kids will like the crispy chicken or beef with no sauce.

“I really wanted to love my burger, but it tasted kind of fishy maybe it was cooked on the same grill as some seafood. The staff, though, was super sweet and you can tell it’s a loving, family run place. I don’t live in the area, just passing through, so I probably won’t be back. But if you’re into Hawaiian food and culture, definitely stop by and check it out. It’s easy to get in and out of, and there’s plenty of parking.“

“This is the place!!! We eat here couple times a week. Love the bbq and katsu chicken, it’s always perfect!! Try the gravy on the katsu, life changer. Garlic shrimp is life, Teri beef and musubi make my family happy. The Mac salad is 10/10 and the staff cares about your experience! So lucky to have this in our neighborhood!! Malasadas, Lumpia, fried chicken skin!! Let’s go to L and L 🤩🌟 eat the Kalua with cabbage, yum!!! I’ve cheesecake and Hawaiian juice all the flavors❤️“

Ordered the small chicken katsu and a thai Boba tea.
-Small orders come with one scoop each of rice and macaroni salad.
-Chicken was so crispy! Macaroni salad was decent, added some of their spicy chili oil and it was tastier.

Overall small order a good portion size for one person.

Location had lots of parking, inside was clean and the staff was friendly and efficient. Lots of seating inside for a smaller looking establishment.
