“What a cute spot! Love the dulce leche latte! Really flavourful with the coffee coming through. You can taste the smoothness of the shot. The backyard is small and cozy with a water feature and extra points for being doggy friendly with treats for them too! Would I come back - that's a resounding yes from me! Can't wait to try the black sesame latte next.“
“I don't drink much coffee these days. Mostly matcha. They source from Asha. Their coffee is very good, and with the gloomy weather, I've opted for it more often than not. They collaborate with local chefs for specials. The raspberry white chocolate mocha was my favorite limited edition drink.“
“A charming spot in downtown Oakland, where great service meets quality coffee. The owner’s dedication to improvement, seeking customers feedback, and surprising us with special treats, be it coffee or pastries, adds a delightful touch to the experience.“
“I absolutely love this place! The staff are so kind and friendly, excellent capuccinos (no sizes -- the correct way to make them), it's in one of my favorite nurserys and also has cute tables in the garden if you want to sit. I also think the pastry selection is spot on.“
“Thought it was time I wrote a review of SweetMarias Coffee Warehouse for Google patrons. Firstly, I’ve never visited this location in person. I’m strictly an online customer. My first purchase dates back to the spring of 2008 when I purchased a coffee subscription. IIRC this subscription lasted over a 3 month period. One of the owners (Thompson Owens) would ship a pound of roasted coffee to me every other week. I would always choose an espresso roast as I was trying to learn the art of brewing espresso at home & through the research I had done it was necessary to use freshly roasted espresso coffee. So the plan was to use Thomason’s espresso roasts as a benchmark to my beginnings as a home coffee roaster. The subscription would rotate through all of the espresso roasts SM’s (SweetMarias) they offered and at the time there were around 5 or 6 styles of espresso coffees they offered with their coffee subscription. What a treat it was to have finely roasted fresh roasted coffee sent to me over that 3 month period. So here we are in January 2024 some 16 years later and I am still buying coffee from SweetMarias except the coffee I have been buying the past 16 years is green coffee that I roast instead of having Thompson roast it for me. I want to make it clear that I have been extremely satisfied with all of the green coffee i have purchased these past 16 years from SweetMarias & I should mention I have purchased green coffee from several other sources on occasion during this time & in no way have any of these other sources come close to matching the level of quality service I’ve always received from SweetMarias & why I’ve continued doing business with Thompson, Maria and all the staff at this coffee warehouse. Besides offering the best selection of coffee throughout the world, SweetMarias also provides an extensive array of everything needed to roast and brew coffee. If I haven’t covered it, their shipping has been outstanding, including the price that’s charged for this service. More often than not i buy 20 pound lots of coffee at a time and shipping usually for 20 and more pounds for $12, certainly no higher than $15 and I need to mention I live in Florida, about 2000 + miles one way. I also want to mention the excellent reviews of all the coffees SM’s offers. It’s quite a feat for the staff, including Thompson for them to be able to convey in a few paragraphs literally all that is needed to know in order to make an intelligent choice when choosing which coffee to select yet their reviews on tasting and all of the other variables you need to know, are written in a concise & easily read manner. If you’re for a place to buy green or roasted coffee, look no further“
“I just moved back to Oakland about a week ago from Maui, Hawaii. I’ve never been a Starbucks kind of person, just locally owned coffee shops. And I must admit this place is amazing! Plus I live 3 minutes up the street so it’s convenient for me. Coffee is really good and the Corazon that I had the other day was delicious.Vegetarian options: Don’t know much but I seen on the wall on their menu they have selections of vegetarian food.“
“After trying many matcha einspanner drinks in LA, I've been craving one in the Bay Area. I tried the iced mindspanner matcha and ceremonial matcha latte with suggested sweetness. The iced mindspanner matcha had a very light matcha flavor, so I'd definitely recommend adding extra matcha for $1.25. This one didn't compare to the other einspanner matcha drinks I've had in LA. But, there wasn't an extra charge for oat milk so that was nice. The ceremonial matcha latte had a good matcha flavor and was definitely the better drink of the two.“
“Lovely little cafe! Definitely one of my favorites in the bay area currently. Atmosphere and customer service is very welcoming and relaxing. The orange blossom latte was very delicious and unique. The apple turnover was also very tasty and flaky. I wish I had taken photos, but I got too excited and ate/drank everything before I thought about it. I have no complaints!“
“I go here often! It's a bit out of the way for me but always worth it. Their espresso is always well made and love that there isn't a huge price difference bc they use only vegan milks. Pastries are also vegan, and super yummy!Plenty of seating inside and out, always good vibes and busy.“
“Even before it officially opened, this place became one of my most favorite local spots. The location is beautiful inside and out. The outdoor space sports a stunning mural and plenty of space. The most important thing, the coffee is amazing and I'm very picky. I buy beans here for my own espresso machine and they do not disappoint. The customer service is top notch and I am always treated warmly. That warmth spills out to the space itself which is beautiful place to enjoy your drinks and pan dulce . They display an array of unique artisan products and I have gotten a few and all have been excellent quality. The space is chic looking but underneath that is a lot of authenticity that you can feel as soon as you walk in the door. Clearly I am a big fan.“
“I've been frequenting this establishment, in one incarnation or another, pretty much since Market Hall was built. It is a wonderful centralized neighborhood hangout, good coffee, friendly service, a good place to catch up with your neighbors or grab a cup before or after heading off on BART or bus. It's not particularly a food place. They have a small selection of pastries, but it is in Market Hall, next to a bakery and many other gastronomic delights“
“Love this spot! There’s always a delicious pastry or 3 available, boichik bagels with vegan schmear options, and they had HAND PIES the other day from Edith’s Pie (like a guest pop up situation I’m guessing?) I got the chorizo potato and my spouse ordered the sausage, egg, and cheese. We were both pleased! The staff is always really nice, there’s ample seating inside, a bar area, a back patio, and two or three tables our front.“
“Love this coffee company! McLaughlin's quality, roasts and flavor options surpasses Peet's and other local and shipped coffee companies I have tried. Their website's interface is intuitive, user friendly, easy to navigate and limit to favorite roasts or browse all available.I signed up for the newsletter and each month I receive a discount code towards a coffee purchase along with additional promotions and discounts - so worth the extra email and there is no limit to purchase. Pickup for your item(s) purchased is super easy and can be made same day if placed early enough (time is on website), next business day for pickup up or shipped. Their location is in Emeryville and super easy to access off the freeway or from Ashby street area. It's near the Chevron over the bridge leaving from Emeryville Bay or Marketplace. Parking can be a bit but easy to manage. The pickup window can be easily missed, so look for the sign that reads PICKUP. The company is on the corner of 64th and Hollis. There is no in store shopping as it is only a pickup location and orders have to be placed in advance. Worth the drive and time. Be mindful of the daily lunch scheduled closure other than that ...Enjoy! I always do!“
“Very quaint and homey coffee shop with a relaxing and welcoming atmosphere worker (gentleman wore a baseball hat with glasses forgot to ask his name and the cook was also wonderful )was very kind and informative about the food and coffee selection and they made the best cold brew (Kyoto Cold drip please try it )and burger I’ve ever had it was simple but the flavors trump anything I’ve had 10/10 would come again for the food and coffee and people.“
“My daughter's preschool was on Park St, which made it easy to pick up breakfast at Highwire on the walk back after dropping her off. Now that she's in kindergarten I don't have the easy excuse to drop by as often, but still try to make it when I can. Even with coming by much less frequently the staff still remember my name, which I find amazing given how bad I am at names, and the service is always friendly and prompt even when they're busy. I especially like the seasonal drinks, and my daughter loves the apple juice. My go-to is usually one of the seasonal drinks and a bagel and cream cheese or these muffins they have that have an egg inside (did I mention I'm bad with names?).“
