I've been to 5 branches of this chain, and they all offer high-quality soup dumplings as well as a wide variety of other Taiwanese dishes. I'm fond of the spicy shrimp and pork wontons. Insider tip: order a bowl of plain noodles to soak up the extra wonton sauce. I was with a larger group this time so we supplemented the pork and pork and crab dumplings with spinach, a ribs appetizer, and potstickers. Everything was good! But especially, you can't beat the soup dumplings.
This is the original Din Tai on Baldwin Avenue. Stepping back in brought back familiar, content, wonderful memories, of when we first experienced the cuisine. As before, the dumplings are petite, juicy, savory, all these wonderful flavors on the palate that made coming over here such a treat. The restaurant is still tiny, the decor and floors have been redone to match the bigger restaurants that opened in the nearby mall and Glendale. Amazing food quality, five star service from all the staff, and a great ambiance in the mall. This location illustrates every good accolade Don Tai Fung is known for and I would recommend it to anybody.
