La Mexicana Restaurant Reviews
Excellent pozole soup best I've ever eaten
Great food for the family. Wife and I had their daily special which was the chili verde plate and the kids had a mix of burritos and chicken nuggies. Chips and salsa were good too. Awesome service, thank you.
The best kept secret if you want a steak. This is the best Mexican food I've had in North County. I judge Mexican food starting with the rice and beans, and theirs is exceptional. It's a diner style environment, so if you're looking for hipster Mexican get on down the road. Otherwise this is the place.

La Mexicana Restaurant is a local favorite known for its classic Mexican fare, including chicken enchiladas, carnitas, fish tacos, tamales, and Chile rellenos. The portions are generous and the flavors are rich, made with fresh ingredients. They accommodate dietary restrictions, such as substituting flour tortillas for those with corn allergies. The prices are good value, especially for the highly praised Chile relleno. The service is friendly, and the atmosphere feels inviting, with comfortable seating that creates a cozy experience. The chips and salsa are noteworthy, often described as the bomb, although they may be stale during late hours. While the decor is plain and they play no music towards closing time, the restaurant is perfect for sharing meals, like the platter, which offers enough food for multiple people. Overall, La Mexicana provides a great dining experience that is enjoyable and budget-friendly.
