“It's my family's go to donut shop and we have always had a great experience except today. The young brunette girl working the cash register on 5/25 at 9am needs to brush up on customer service skills. She got upset when a question was asked (if a donut had cinnamon on it), made every comment be repeated 2 or 3 times because she wouldn't answer and just stare at you when selecting the donuts, when checking out she left us before finishing the transaction and didn't even provide a receipt.“

“With KoRn’s success in the late 1990s Bakersfield’s only real claim to fame one shouldn’t expect much from the local culinary scene, yet as luck might have it Rosedale Donuts compares favorably to other like-shops in Los Angeles or San Diego despite a lower price-point.Presumably Cambodian owned, daily hours from 5am until 3pm finding all varieties of fried Dough made fresh on-site, it was before sunrise that shelves were found stuffed while two elderly gentlemen sipped Coffee near the window discussing their Christmas plans.Fast and friendly in terms of service, eight items including an oversized oilless Fritter boxed up for just over $12, Yeast Rings and Twists were fluffy beneath typical Glazes while Chocolate Cake ate more moist than many even before the addition of Frosting or Sprinkles.Not to be mistaken as an artisan shop, most everything assuredly made from a mix, proper frying temperatures see Cake excel whether standard or cog-wheel while Buttermilk Bars are absolutely flawless thanks to the application of Glaze while still warm thus allowing some penetration below the surface.“

“I needed two dozen powdered sugar donuts for my daughter’s bridal shower and I didn’t think to order them ahead of time. When I arrived to the store, I was disappointed that they didn’t have any. BUT, the young lady at the counter was so helpful and asked the baker if he could powder up some donuts for me! The Angel Donuts team at the Hageman store saved the morning! Not only that...the service was over the top when, after learning that there was a situation in the parking lot that had me concerned, the young lady (I wish I would have gotten her name!) kept an eye on me until I made it safely to my car! “Great custom orders and service. I was so pleased with some triceratops cupcakes they made for my dinosaur baby shower!!! Not only were they so cute, but the taste was amazing as well. I've used Sugar Twist a few times for custom orders and will continue to use them as my first choice for a bakery. They also have the best brownies!“

“You can definitely tell the place has been there for some time. We had the ham and cheese croissant and they were so delicious. The croissant was crunchy but soft the meat and cheese ratio was amazing. Best in Bakersfield. Sorry no pictures, it was that good.“

They now have several different satellite shops in Bakersfield, along with their main bakery on Union Ave.Try their thumb print cookies, I don’t know anyone who doesn’t like them.“

“Smith’s Bakery is a gem of a place in Bakersfield, truly amazing. Everything I’ve had from there for the 25 years I’ve been going there has been nothing but the best. But my God, are they overpriced. They raised their prices dramatically during the pandemic, which I understand to a point. But now they appear to be arbitrarily raising prices just because. And it happens in such a short amount of time that it’s kind of pitiful. For example, they raised the price of a box of their thumbprint cookies by $2 in ONE month. What justifies THAT much of a cost increase in such a short period of time?“

“We’ve been here quite a few times for all their goodies! The bubble tea is fantastic, Korean corn dogs out of this world! Today we tried the Korean milk donuts and just WOW! We got one of each flavor, crème brûlée being our favorite! But you cannot and will not go wrong with any of them! Get the donuts! They sell out fast and are only available on the weekends so go once he posts them! The owner is also a fantastic man!!“
