Smith’s Bakery is a gem of a place in Bakersfield, truly amazing. Everything I’ve had from there for the 25 years I’ve been going there has been nothing but the best. But my God, are they overpriced. They raised their prices dramatically during the pandemic, which I understand to a point. But now they appear to be arbitrarily raising prices just because. How I love champagne cake, smiley cookies, alligator cookies. So many childhood memories. I still stop by whenever I'm in town to pick up treats. The :-) cookies are great frozen. I have now introduced my daughter to Smith's bakery and we have to stop by every time we are in town. It's a little slice of my childhood, and it tastes exactly the same over 40 years later. The people working in the store could not be nicer and it's just what I remember from being a kid.
