Everything is beautiful, staff was attentive and kind. I love that everyone seems to walk into the neighborhood from the hotel. We managed to squeeze in a couple of rounds of tennis between showers. We weren't able to get in with the spa as holiday hours were reduced, including tennis courts and pools. But we also got a deal on the room! The only surprise charge was for parking, had to pay for valet the first night as lot was full. Can't wait to come back.

Unexpected stay due to both parents we were supposed to visit having Covid. We enjoyed the location close to our needs. We love Peets coffee and the bakery across the street. The health club and variety of classes and activities was excellent. We had a fabulous room for most of our stay. The hotel is clean and charming.

Reserved a suite with bay view. Ended up with room on the first floor (basement) with a view of the tennis courts. Only had 1 comfortable place to sit. Being a Fairmont Hotel, expected more. The staff are very good. Food and service in the rest were great.

Being a guest at the resort many times over the years with superior service, so it was fun to be on the 1st Annual Haunted history tour of the establishment. Our tour guide was knowledgeable of the history and operation of the resort, plus the ghostly happenings that have occurred over the years. We tour several hallways and rooms where occurrences happened, in fact at one point my wife jumped from a vision. Great time, no wonder it sold out, looking forward to celebrating my 25 anniversary there and returning for the 2nd Haunted History Tour next year!

no water in the room, airconditioning very loud, I was paying $500 a night that transfers back to over AUD$750 per night, I was facing a carpark, no one helped with my bags, no breakfast was included in my booking. YOU NEED TO DOWN GRADE YOUR RATING TO A 2 STAR. I was recommended by UC Berkeley to stay at this hotel (one of 6 hotels they suggested) I have shared my huge disappointment with your hotel, so much so that I checked out 4 days early to stay some where else.

From the beginning, it was a very disappointing stay. The parking lot was a mess - i asked to valet so that i could get help with my suitcase.. there was one good attendant that felt sorry for me - Andrew- but still no help w/ suitcase..had to pull it up the road and then in to a line that took over 20 minutes to check in for a 600 dollar room First thing - the gentleman whispers to his associate and came back to me to say he did not have my room. I showed him my confirmation and voila.. I got to schlep my bag up to a very tired room w/ curtains not even hung properly..with tired linens… the hostess in the dining room was lovely, the food was ok.. i checked out and checked in to the hotel shattuck for 1/2 the price … i will let you know how it goes..

Wish I had more time to use health club....over three nights only able to swim 1x but looks like an excellent facility. Comfortable room but not much of a view....other rooms probably have better. Access problematic at times for cabs.

The room is so big and luxurious, and the whole hotel has a massive space on the hillside, unique and beautiful. The dining room has delicious, and even the bakery shop's dessert is fantastic. Also, there are a lot of activity options. The servers are so thoughtful and courteous!

From the initial welcome at the front desk with Laurie, my friend and I were excited to begin our overnight stay at the Claremont. She was great. Also, as this was a gift from my employer a colleague would also be staying. We all were given an early check-in and we hurried to our room to get ready for a personal training session and a message we had booked. I would be sharing the personal training session with my colleague. The training was just alright. I wouldn't recommend the trainer. The trainer seemed to not have read the forms we filled out about our specific interests. Before we ended I reminded her, as had I stated in the beginning, I specifically asked for Pilates. She informed us since the area for this activity was a little congested she would show us some Pilates movement on the mats. She then showed us stretches that were not related to Pilates at all. After leaving the Club we got a bite to eat at the East Bay Provisions The friend getting the message met us there and we enjoyed the food, the service, and the atmosphere! Definitely a highlight of our stay. The Limewood Restaurant was also a very nice experience. After dinner Saturday night, we followed the music and found a small group of electricians celebrating their recent graduation. They invited us in to dance and celebrate with them. it was a fun evening all around. That would soon change. Returning to our rooms we prepared to watch a movie together. My colleague was coming to our room and the movie had been paid for. Suddenly, there was a fire alarm going off and an announcement over the P.A. to evacuate our rooms along with a suggestion that the alarm was possibly in error and to stay in our rooms. This message repeated on a loop for approximately 10 minutes. About this time I answered a knock on the door expecting my colleague. it wasn't. It was an employee of the hotel who accused us of having smoke coming from our room. I immediately told her, "No, it's not!" She pushed past me where my friend was in bed in her pajamas and proceeded to look around the room and up at the ceiling. My friend quickly pulled the covers up over herself, and after looking around the woman left the room with me on her heels. I complained to her and another hotel staff member in the hall that this was not acceptable. And, it was not the proper way to address a concern by making an accusation against a hotel guest and then barging into their room without permission. This was an invasion of privacy. Other hotel guests were standing in their doorways asking what was happening. People seemed confused and concerned. By now the P.A. was still on a loop but only contained the first part of the message, leaving off the suggestion to stay in your room. My colleague had shown up and we prepared to evacuate. After standing outside with guests for approximately 45 minutes people started going back into the hotel and to their rooms. There was no announcement nor did anyone come out to tell us it was safe to return to our rooms. Very disappointing experience at the end of the day.

Check in process was awful - no room available when we arrived after reserving three weeks in advance. Front desk was not helpful at all - receievd room only after returning many times. Took over three hours to get a room - almost 6 pm.

The hotel was run down and the rooms were dirty and small. Once we switched rooms 3x upon arrival we were dissatisfied but slept based on it being so late. There were a lot of people on the ground just hanging in the hallway. We woke up to construction noise and maid service before 8 am. We checked out as fast as we could even though we were supposed to have a family weekend. I wish we could get our money back to reverse this terrible experience.

Our family booked two rooms for 4 nights during August. No complaints about the rooms and the premises. Our rooms were beautiful, and the cleaning/turndown service was fantastic. The food and drink service needs a complete re-think: 1. Restaurant kitchen closes at 9?? When I first heard this I thought it was a joke. We were paying $1, 000 per night per room, and we could not even find any food to eat after 9? Some of my family arrived later about 9:30 after a transatlantic flight - and they were starving - only to find out that they could not get ANYTHING to eat at this majestic hotel. Just beyond my comprehension. It was embarrassing, and the hotel should be ashamed. 2. A hotel of this size and prestige only offers guests ONE full service restaurant choice for breakfast/lunch/dinner. Wow. So to have breakfast everyday - the only choice is to go there and sit down and choose from a limited and very expensive menu. No other choice! 3. The only other possible breakfast option is to go to the cafe (croissants/danish/coffee) located on the lower level. This place would be fine - except for the fact that the counter is only manned by one person! - who prepares everyone's order and also acts as the cashier. So after 7:00 AM the line is huge....so if you are wanting to grab something quick - forget it - you must stand in line for about 20 minutes just for a coffee and roll. Can they add more people at the counter? I just don't get it. 4. One bar on the premises - and it closes at 10:00 (11:00 on weekends)?? So after a long day and we go down to relax at the bar....the "last call" white lights come on at 9:30 and we were made to feel like we needed to leave. Again - paying $1, 000 per night per room - and we could not get a drink after 10-11? Wow. Just really incredible to me for a "luxury" hotel. This was so insulting. There were no other options. I would really like some kind of an explanation about how the hotel justifies the above. David

Hi I am so upset 1) the staff (door men (and Women), house keeping) are lovely 2) the 4th floor smells like a nursing home 3) I paid for an “upgrade” to a junior suite... it’s not a “suite, ” it’s a big room with a couch. Anyway, it’s still a lovely room. So it started raining

We wanted a day at the Claremont club as the pool area is exceptional. There were many loungers and umbrellas around the pool with help should you need to move an umbrella. The pool water must be of a saltwater cleaning system as no chlorine smell. The temperature was perfect. There is a shallow splash pool for children and a large bubbling hot tub. They have a very nice snack bar complete with fresh watermelon slices! Many of the people must be club members since some knew each other. It created a very wonderful neighborhood vibe of people who were interesting and respectful of each other. The club has exercise equipment, bikes and classes with a changing area. The pool deck is surrounded by large trees and foliage on the east hillside. It’s really lovely. Oh! I almost forgot to say they had live music! A guitarist singing and included many Hawaiian songs. Our room was a deluxe king with a view of the bay. I could see Coit Tower in the far distance and the Golden Gate. The room was typical size with a closet but lacked storage. The bath was all beautiful marble but lacked a vanity. It was quiet and comfortable. All in all a wonderful stay.

We had a a wonderful time!! I brought my 7 year old grandson and the staff catered to us! We felt special and enjoyed the resort to the fullest!!! We loved our room, the pool and the food was excellent, and the entire staff is always incredible!!!! The chef made the best pancakes and took extra special care of my grandson which made everything fun and comfortable! I always stay at the Claremont when I come to Oakland, which is every few months!!!
