Excellent food. Nice drive. Thought I had reserved Casmalia, luckily I called and they said no reservations. Apparently had booked for Solvang. No worries. Same drive time for both. I also thought dessert was included with the meal, but it wasn't. Again, no worries. It was our anniversary.
The celebrated smoked artichoke appetiser did not disappoint, and the smallest 7oz sirloin was more than enough for one; well flavoured succulent meat cooked perfectly medium rare as ordered. Service was attentive and knowledgable at all times. The house salad was generous, and a good foil to what followed. The 'House' Pinot Noirs from Bien Nacido and Sanford and Benedict vineyards, both by the glass, were the perfect accompaniment to the meal.
We enjoyed the artichoke appetizers, our filet mignon steaks, scallops, shrimp and a bottle of HP Big Circle Syrah. We asked to taste the wine before deciding on it. We were informed that it now costs $1 for a small tasting. I found this to be in poor taste especially when we bought the bottle and spent a generous amount on appetizers, dinner and dessert and cocktails.
