From Christchurch, New Zealand. My 50th Birthday travels, popped in to meet the very welcoming team. Hector introduced us to the most amazing wines. We walked away with the 2022 Estate Cabenet Sauvignon Calistoga. Thank you Hector for your wonderful giving nature.
The sommelier at Popina in Brooklyn (Will) suggested we go here for both the history and the wine and we’re so glad he did. We had a tasting with Aiden and he was great. We learned all about the history and both the famous Chardonnay and their Estate Sav as well as a few others. When it was all said and done we ended up ordering four bottles (after all, it just made more financial sense that way!) and having an amazing time in a historic and beautiful setting.
Our guide Michael was awesome, and our tasting was insightful, fun, and delicious!

Chateau Montelena offers an exceptional wine tasting experience led by knowledgeable staff. The estate Cabernet Sauvignon and the famous Judgement of Paris Chardonnay are standouts. Visitors can enjoy a charming atmosphere, delicious wines, and excellent service. The chateau and grounds are exquisite, with a lovely pond available for picnics at the bottom of the castle. The educational tour and wine tasting are highly praised, providing guests with new knowledge and respect for the winemaking process.
