“We had a lovely, relaxed time in the gardens of the winery while sampling their upper-tier products. The merlot and reserve cabs were superb, with very low acidity and a lingering after-taste. Our hostess, Leeanne, provided a great deal of information about the wines and the history of the vineyard, and gave us a look behind the scenes that clearly revealed the exceptional care and attention to detail taken by the vintners. Visiting this small winery at the northern end of the valley was a true delight, and a must for those who favor the heavier reds over their weaker cousins.“

“This store is a treasure! All employees, especially the owner, Claire, are so gracious and kind. The merchandise is fabulous, from so many countries! This store carries Pendleton blankets, shirts and various other things.
Picayune also carries its own brand of beautiful wines and other gourmet items. As previously said, Claire picks the merchandise which varies from all over.
Picayune’s is the first shop I go to when I am in Calistoga and the last when I’m ready to leave! Be sure and put it on your list ! ❤️“
“Chateau did not disappoint. It's looks great from the outside just like I.was expecting. From the moment I arrived at the front door I was greeted by friendly people. Joel, Tash and John were wonderful hosts in the tasting room. The tasting is worth it 100%. Sad I will probably never come back again.“

“Here's a fun fact: Frank Family makes an amazing sparkling wine. The Blanc de Blanc sparkling is this house's secret sauce that is winery visit exclusive. Highly recommended. We sat at the bar and squeezed in a tasting between tastings and we were glad we did. The gentleman behind the bar was very engaging and helpful. Glad we could get in this beutiful property. “We visited as part of the Platypus Wine Tour and enjoyed this winery very much. The wines are wonderful with great balance and just delicious. Erin, was our tasting coordinator who was a lot of fun and provided a good historical background and details of the wines. We ended up joining their wine club.“

“Wow this was such an amazing vineyard! We did the hilltop experience and upgraded our tasting to the Library Tasting and the Cab Sav tasting. Was fun to do something different and share both experiences. The gondola's were fun! Very clean and easy to use and a great addition to see Napa Valley. The team were all lovely, very friendly and welcoming and helpful. But I would add that they gave us the right amount of space to spend time chatting about the wines on our own. Loved the gift shop - great additions to the wine purchases. Highly recommend this as a stop whilst in Napa Valley!“
“We had a very nice tasting yesterday at Knights Bridge in Calistoga. Chrystal was very knowledgeable about the winery and wines in general. The tasting room has a quiet elegance with the very high bank ceilings. You won't be disappointed here!“
“We recently visited Calistoga for a wine tasting getaway. We stumbled upon August Briggs Winery while walking around and explore the downtown strip, and WHAT A FIND! Matt was so much fun to talk to and explained the intricacies of sourcing for various wines and considerations for selecting grapes for his wines. Not only did we learn a ton, but the wines were FABULOUS! We brought several bottles home and my partner has a list of new questions to ask next time we visit!

“Andrew was a great host giving us an informative tour of the estate, vineyards and wine cave (we had totally forgotten about all the connections to Robert Redford). Of course the wine was the star of the show. This place is known for their cabs but be sure to check out the Sauvignon Blanc as well. Gotta love these micro wineries!!!“

“Tucked away in wine country, Spire Collection is truly a hidden gem in Calistoga. It was recommended to me by a friend, and I’m so grateful we had the opportunity to visit the property. From the moment we arrived, it felt like we had discovered something special.
The experience was incredibly intimate nothing rushed, nothing crowded just a relaxed and personalized tasting that allowed us to fully take in the beauty around us. The views overlooking the stunning Calistoga mountains are absolutely breathtaking. Sitting there with a glass of wine, surrounded by rolling hills and peaceful scenery, made the entire visit feel elevated and unforgettable.
What makes Spire Collection even more unique is the variety of wines they offer. There’s something for every palate, and each pour felt thoughtfully curated. The wines were distinct, expressive, and beautifully crafted, showcasing a range that you don’t always find in one place. It felt less like a standard tasting and more like a carefully guided journey through different styles and regions.
One of the most memorable touches was being able to choose your own vinyl during the tasting. That detail added such a personal and cozy vibe to the experience, making it feel even more special and one of a kind.
Our wine educator was absolutely amazing knowledgeable, engaging, and genuinely passionate. He made the tasting both educational and fun, answering questions and sharing stories that brought each wine to life.
Overall, Spire Collection offers a rare, intimate experience with breathtaking views and exceptional wines. I would definitely recommend it and can’t wait to return for another unforgettable visit.“
“We visited in 2022 and enjoyed sampling the Petit Verdot that was in the production process. Great boutique winery..we bought several bottles of XRoads and Date Night... great bold wines. Beautiful tasting room... we loved the experience.“
“Went on a Monday afternoon to meet a friend while visiting the area. The outdoor seating is gorgeous with plenty of space, and we basically had the entire area to ourselves. The server for the wine tasting experience was great! He was very informative about all the different wines we had the pleasure of trying, and even gave us a bonus taste of a more aged wine. The price was average for a wine tasting experience, so overall it was a great time. Would definitely go again given the chance!“
“I was curious about Checkerboard Vineyards so my wife and I made an appointment to visit and tour the winery. Long story short, it was the highlight of our visit to the Napa Valley. Gary, our guide, walked us through the cave and gave us an overview of the property. He also provided a truly fantastic tasting experience with knowledgeable insights and great descriptions of the wines from each of the vineyards on the property. We really appreciated the singular attention during our visit along with great conversation. I highly recommend this winery tour and their wines!“
“We did a tasting with Barbie and we couldn't have had more fun! She was funny, enthusiastic, knowledgeable and passionate about the wines. We were able to try plenty of wines and loved each one of them. We bought four bottles to take with us. By the end, it seemed we were all old friends! Wish we could have tried the sold out O.G. and La Verdad, but I suppose we will just have to go back next year. Would rate 6 stars if I could. Thanks Barbie, and thanks Carter Cellars for a great time and great wine.“
“First of all, we went to Kenefick Ranch Winery because their wines are awesome! Once at the tasting room, we were not disappointed. It was great tasting more of a breadth of their wines in the tasting room. We first fell in love with their Cabernet, but loved all their wines, including their rose and merlot. The staff in the tasting room was very knowledgeable, friendly and fun!“

“My wife and I visited Newton Napa Valley February 18, 2023. It was a private tasting hosted by a very knowledgeable, respectful and kind young man named Edgar Macias. Our entire experience, from greeting to our wine tasting with a splendid charcuterie, to our departure, was magnificent. My wife enjoyed the 2016 Mt. Veeder Cab and my favorite was the 2016 Spring Mountain Cab. We have been to Napa before but this experience at Newton was the best by far, for both of us. We learned so much from Edgar about the grape growing process, the vineyards and the climate for this batch of wine year 2016. I wanted to thank Mr. Macias for help making this tasting a memorable one. His hospitality is superior and we wish him the best! Newton makes a superb Chardonnay as well. If you are reading this review, I strongly recommend this vineyard/winery.“
“Visited the winery back on June 14, 2018 for a tasting. Beautiful winery and caves. Friendly service. Reasonable tasting fee. Large selection of delicious wines including a white Malbec. Did not meet the owner but he had an interesting history and background. The statues in the cave along with music and stain glass windows was a perfect way to end the tour. Purchased some wine for my collection. Received today and it was well packaged. I would go back again in the future. Great photo opportunity in the caves to remember your visit.“

“This place was AMAZING! While visiting Napa Valley did the whole wine tasting experience, and was not disappointed. This was some of the tastiest wine I've ever had. Especially the pinot noir. Our server for wine tasting was exceptional. Moreover, the grounds are spectacular. There is a full chapel and tasting room and castle that make you feel like you are really in Tuscany. The grounds have animals including goats and emus. The beauty of this place is breathtaking. I will be dreaming about it.“

“Absolute gem of a tasting room. We found some truly unique and delicious wines, and got to enjoy them in a fun, relaxed space. Our host Patrick was very knowledgeable and personalized the tasting to us, which made the experience even better.
Loved hearing that their wines are all limited release. Part of the fun of tasting is finding something different than you might normally drink. They really lean into the treasure hunt vibe here with all of their wines being one and done. We will definitely be back on our next trip. If you're going soon snag some Pink Motel for a perfect summer sip.“
