Pride Mountain Vineyards Wineries • $$$
4026 Spring Mountain Rd, St Helena

“I was highly recommended to make the drive up to Pride by a well respected winery Ambassador. I did not have a reservation but thought I would take the chance, the drive up is stunning, and challenging so ensure you have a designated driver if you are tasting. Upon arrival I was greeted by Nicole. After letting her know I did not have a reservation she was very welcoming and appreciated I had made the drive and had been personally recommended by another winery Ambassador. Nicole spent considerable time with me introducing me to their great variety of quality wines and sharing the story of Pride and the unique position they are on, both up in the hills and with vineyards in two different counties. It was worth the drive. Thank you Nicole and Pride.“

The food and wine selections perfectly complement the flavors for an elevated dining experience. The portions are generous, especially the Heritage St. Louis Ribs and the California Arborio Rice - definitely shareable plates. The desserts are always on point. My favorite is the Scharffen Berger Chocolate Cream Pie - house made with a thick graham cracker crust and whipped cream. If you are looking for a true farm to table experience, showcasing fresh and flavorful ingredients from their garden, ranch and vineyards, Farmstead delivers. “We weren't certain if we'd visit this vineyard, but we're grateful we did. Bob, who wasn't initially assigned as our guide, kindly volunteered to lead us through the tasting. His generosity and expertise enriched our visit immensely. The experience was well-priced, and Bob's guidance made it truly unforgettable. The wine was exceptional, and the property was breathtaking. What an incredible experience—we can't recommend Rombauer enough.“

HALL Wines St. Helena Wineries • $$
401 St Helena Hwy South, St Helena

“We initially did not intend to do any tasting here. We originally intended to go to another winery and then we decided to squeeze Hall in since it was included in our hotel stay. We knew nothing about Hall going in. We were pleasantly surprised by how beautiful the tasting room was as well as how much we enjoyed the wine. I'm trying to enjoy more red wine as opposed to white and this place gave me a huge push in that direction. The wine was great. Lastly, I will say how great Joego was. He was entertaining as well as giving us a lot of great information on their wine. In the end, we didn't end up going to that other winery at all but we were completely happy with that. Hall was the perfect winery to end our stay in Napa Valley“

Maxville Winery Winery •
4105 Chiles Pope Valley Rd, St Helena

“Maxville winery is a hidden treasure. The wines are all so different, well balanced and smooth. The only Malbec and Cab Franc I have truly enjoyed. The Sauv Blanc was unlike any I had before! The property is beautiful, even on a rainy day. What really blew us out of the water was the hospitality--Dave was our host and so welcoming, friendly, and accommodating. We are pretty new to the area and he was full of recommendations. He introduced us to Doug and the CEO Anthony who were both so down to earth and friendly. Although it was our first time at Maxville, we felt like we were amongst old friends.Chef Stefano was able to whip up some lunch for us very last minute--it took us back to Italy, though the tiramisu might have been better than anything we had over there! Our experience was so great we became members (first winery we've even been interested in joining as members!) and booked again for the 5 course Italian lunch with wine pairing.Maxville will be our go to place to take friends and visitors!“

“We had an incredible time tasting at Paloma! We were looking for a smaller place, off the beaten track that had that cozy feel to it - and it didn’t disappoint! This felt like we were coming home as we were welcomed right into their home, tasting both at the dinning room table and then in the winery. The views were spectacular out across Napa valley. The wines also didn’t disappoint and got me appreciating Merlot for the first time in years. If you’re looking for something special - go to Paloma.“

Anderson's Conn Valley Vineyards Winery • $$$
680 Rossi Rd, St Helena

“The wine is absolutely wonderful! We’ve visited many vineyards and this farmer owned and operated winery is by far the best we have experienced. Do not expect the fluff of the big $ vineyards. Expect great wine (no exaggeration or fluff here either), real people, and true commitment to being the best. No detail is missed. From the early season vine nurturing, to the grape harvesting, to the wine making, it is all done very thoughtfully and intentionally. Purpose drives this vineyard and it comes through in the end product. The wine is worth every penny and every last drop is exceptional!“

axr napa valley Wineries • $$
3199 St Helena Hwy N, St Helena

“This was the absolute pinnacle of our trip to Napa Valley. I'm glad we went here last, because if we had started here... everything else would have been a disappointment. If you visit one winery on your trip, make AXR the one.First, our wine host Melissa was a complete joy to spend 2 hours with. By the end of our tasting, she was like family. Her knowledge of wine is amazing and we learned a lot. She also gave us a quick tour of the property on foot despite the rain. We may have even tasted a wine or two not on the list.Second, the wines are quite honestly the best I've had top to bottom. The grenache was a pleasant surprise. Their 2021 line-up tastes like something that's been aging for 6 years vs 3. There is no doubt these wines will age spectacularly and if you are a collector, they source from single vineyards that are limited and hard to get your hands on.Third, winemaker Jean Hoefliger, is in very high demand in the valley and working with some great wineries. His creativity and Bordeaux background are nothing like I've experienced. I can't say enough about the structure, depth and fruit that he ties together... it's simply "joy" in a bottle.Needless to say, we joined the club and are looking forward to our next visit.“

Chappellet Winery Winery •

“I already knew and loved the wines. But learning about the Chappellet family moving up from LA, carving a home and winery out of the mountain and harnessing the wines from this stunning place exceeded any of my high expectations. The views from their vineyards will make you a lifelong fan and you'll be back. Our group was blown away by the passion and the knowledge of the wines and the story that Emmanuel shared with us.“

Clif Family Winery Winery • $$

“Finally, after two years living in St Helena, I found my way inside. Actually came in for a cup of coffee and, as it happens here rather often, it turned into a wine tasting event :) Wines are not to my taste and yet, those are good wines. Nevertheless, it is a definite *****. Plase has a unique home like feel, nice set up outside, clean and fun. However, the best asset they have is their staff. Great and very welcoming team. Thank you, guys.“

Starmont Wines at Merryvale Wineries • $$
c/o Merryvale Vineyards, 1000 Main St, St Helena

“This place is now in my list of top 5 wineries in Napa. Recently went with friends at the recommendation of a local distributor. Snacks were typical cheese, nuts, and crackers to keep your palate neutral during tastings. The atmosphere was so cool though. One of the oldest operations in Napa, and the wines are fantastic. They also sell Profile as their higher tier wine, but we loved the Merryvale wines for their excellent quality for the price.“

“I was excited to visit Inglenook. I didn't have my dog with me and Inglenook is not dog friendly so it was the first time in a long time that I was even able to visit here. I made a reservation and received a QR code to scan to enter into the gate upon arrival. I didn't end up needing it as the gate was open when I got there. The winery also requests smart casual attire at the Chateau. I arrived about 15 minutes before my tasting, so I ended up walking around and enjoying the grounds before following the signs to check-in for my wine tasting experience. I booked the Estate Library Tasting ($125) which also came with some cheese, nuts, and a spread. The Chateau is really beautiful with a lot of old-world charm leading to a refined, yet welcoming environment to enjoy wine. My host was very knowledgeable and kind. Of everything I tried, my favorite wine was the 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon.“

Spring Mountain Vineyard Wineries • $$
2805 Spring Mountain Rd, St Helena

“Incredible property with an awesome tour and tasting! Our guide was awesome (sorry, forgot her name!), she was very knowledgeable about the history of the property and the wines. Wines were lovely, this place has a lot older vintages than most you'll find in napa, we tasted many from the 2000s-2010s, and one all the way back to 1992! Tastings took place in a historic mansion which is apparently also the set of a famous tv show from the 80s. Highly recommended, love all the wineries I've been to on the mountain, this one is certainly a highlight.“

Flora Springs Tasting Room Wineries • $$
677 St Helena Hwy, St Helena

“We were at the end of the day. We passed by this place earlier, and I had commented on how beautiful it looks. On our way back to our B&B we passed this again, and I thought it deserved another look. So at 430, we turned in for a tasting, and I'm glad we did (I may be the only one). Personally, this is a brilliant "hidden gem" (it's on the main strip, so not so hidden). I did the premier tasting, and was in love after the first sip. The FS wines made me sigh in a way that I wish the whole world except me and the wine would disappear. My 3 compatriots were not of the same opinion, but their loss. I'd rather be joined by a glass of Flora's Legacy than any of them. I cautioned Jesse that I talk a lot (they close at 5), and she reassured me that it was ok (she didn't realise what she agreed to). She was amazing and stayed an extra hour til 6, and I am very grateful because the building and wine bottles are gorgeous, and the wine itself is amazing. Flora's Legacy chardonnay and Out of Sight cabsauv were the standouts for me. Now my compatriots, also oenophiles, were not fans, so YMMV, but I can unequivocally say that Jesse went above and beyond, and I loved the wines. À la Arnold, I will be back...“

“We were picking up some wine so while we were there we booked a tasting as well on a Sunday morning, and it was a beautiful drive up the hills in the Spring Mountain District of Napa. Just the foliage and weather in the fall made the drive unbeatable! We got to the gate of the property got buzzed in drove up to the visitors center and we were greeted by one of the labrador retrievers (super friendly and chill). Our host was super nice, she had our tasting setups already all set up, staring us off with a splash of their sauv blanc. She gave us some cheesey bread sticks to match with the wine. SInce we were the only people at the property, we took our time and just chatted with the host. Super friendly people, great wine and the place was just very welcoming. I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Schweiger.“

“This was me and my significant other's first time here at V. Sattui and we couldn't have asked for a better experience. As we arrived, we were greeted with a polite young gentleman who checked us in from the reservation I booked online. With a welcoming aura, he asked us if we were celebrating and from there I explained that it was my significant others birthday as well as her first wine tasting experience. As he finished checking us in, he offered us some of their signature chocolates which were free of charge and of course very delicious. We were seated in the barrel room, in which the other young gentleman who took care of us that afternoon gave us their list of wines to taste. We got to try some of their wines all of which are exclusively sold from their winery. Overall, a great experience and a fine atmosphere, with friendly staff, and a diverse selection of exquisite wine.“

“Ehlers is a very intimate winery and while it isn't the most well-known estate in the Napa Area, their wine is excellent and can go toe-to-toe with some of the best. I'm happy to switch my JP membership as I actually prefer the Ehlers can over JP. The 1886 is amazing value as well and highly recommended. My last tasting was with Mario who was knowledgeable not only about Ehlers Estate but about the history of Napa Valley itself. Really interesting to have him host us and to just learn more about a region that I love so much.“

Westwood Estate Wine Winery •

“Enjoyed my tasting with Matthew! It's a place that is tucked away within downtown Sonoma and isn't really flashy, just a really cute room where you can taste wines. When we came, Matthew stayed with us the whole experience and entertained our group of 4 the whole hour. We got 3 wines, each a bit different but special in their own ways - and enjoyed being able to learn more about the history from Matthew - he was a really funny dude.I've been to a few wine tastings in Sonoma and I'd say this is one of the more low-key ones that I've been to which isn't bad, but it's not as active as the ones where you get to go to a winery and look around. I'd still come for the good service!“

“We love this winery! It is exactly what we look for in a wine tasting experience. Not corporate. Not cold and overpriced. The wines are wonderful. We buy as much as we can afford and while they are not bargain prices, they feel like an incredible value for the quality. The staff are warm, generous and relaxed. The owner is onsite and very friendly. A bit off the beaten track, but so very worthwhile.“

Trinchero Napa Valley Winery Wineries • $$$
3070 St Helena Hwy, St Helena

“One of my favorite wineries in Napa Valley! I've been here a handful of times throughout the years, and TNV never fails to wow. VIEW: In my opinion, this is one of the best views in Napa. Up on the hill, you get to look out at the vineyards and feel transported. WINES: Single-vineyard cabs. Crisp chardonnay. Thoughtful blends made by expert winemakers. Can't go wrong! TOUR: I love their tour - getting to see the grounds and the cave is such a great experience. TASTING: Though not cheap, these are high-quality wines that really represent Napa's specialties. SERVICE: Simply incredible. Each time, our wine educator on our tour or tasting is the perfect mix of hospitality, sharing information, conversation, and catering to our interests. FOOD: We've had charcuterie boards and food here a few times, and it knocks our socks off each time. Again, not a cheap venture but well worth it!“

AuburnJames Winery Winery •
1001 Silverado Trail S, St Helena

“One of the highlights of a recent visit to Napa was our trip to AuburnJames Winery. This was the smallest of the wineries we visited and it had much more of a down-home, intimate, family feel to it than others. Eric our wine ambassador carefully explained each offering but the best part of our visit was getting to converse with the chief winemaker and owner, Jim Frost. Jim was great to talk with and he spent time with each member of our tour group talking about how he got into the wine business, how they produce their wines and how each member of their team does everything from taking care of the vineyards to picking grapes. He was also great answering questions we had about things like why red wines continue to age in the bottle. AuburnJames (the Auburn part comes from the famous, classic automobile brand) is a bit off the beaten path but is well worth the visit, if not for their great wines, for the hospitality and the chance to experience the clear passion of the team for the art (and as Jim suggests, the science) of winemaking.“

David Arthur Vineyards Winery •

“Fabulous experience this past weekend at David Arthur vineyards. We had a group of 8 who where personally cared for by Jeffrey. He was amazing, warm and informative. Wonderful wines tasted in the vineyard surrounded by fields of golden vines and under a 300 year old oak tree (with lots of family history). Although Cabs predominate, the other grape varietals and blends are what i thought differentiated D.A. from other high end wines. I would surely visit to experience something special. In today's high priced tasting in the Napa Valley, D.A. was very kind in their offset with a purchase of wine. 5 Stars!“

Mending Wall Winery Winery •
3730 Silverado Trail N, St Helena

“Delightful tasting experience at Mending Wall, one of the renowned winemaker Thomas River Brown's projects. The aim was to create a welcoming space where people could enjoy exceptional wines without any pretentiousness. The tasting room, with its stylish yet minimalist design, perfectly embodies this vision. During our visit, we sampled a refreshing aromatic white blend featuring Sauvignon and Semillon grapes. Following that, we indulged in a selection of Cabernet Sauvignon wines. However, the true standout was the TOURNARIO VINEYARD 2021 Cabernet. Its complex bouquet of blackcurrant, ripe plum, and dark cherry, interwoven with subtle notes of graphite, made it an absolute delight. The laid-back atmosphere added to the overall experience, making it truly memorable.“
