My steak was cooked to perfection (Medium rare of course) the baked potato was cooked through but not dry, and the salad bar provided a very nice fresh selection. “Ok Im picky and also Persian! Hands down. The best Persian food in the whole San Diego metropolitan. Koobideh, chicken, and barg was delicious. Rice so flavorful, like a homemade basmati rice by a traditional Persian mom!! Salad dressing and salads ON POINT! Shallot yogurt delicious and perfect proportions. Ugh, Ill be a regular. I don’t know how it was my first time. Thank you for the best persian food anyone can ask for.“

“I wish more people ate at this place, it’s such an underrated Indian restaurant. Second time here and tried the chicken biryani. Best damn biryani I’ve ever had in my life. (My picture doesn’t do it justice but the bowl was FULL and enough to share with three people if you combine it with naan). The first time I had the tikka and the samosas which were amazing as well. I can’t say enough about this place, It’s better than any other Indian restaurants I’ve tried at major cities or more well known areas. So awesome to have this place here in Oside ????“

The location is perfect, right by the water with breathtaking harbor views that set the perfect ambiance for a family evening out. My daughters couldn't stop raving about their meals, and my wife and I were impressed with the diverse menu options. Our server was incredibly attentive and made sure we had everything we needed, from recommendations to making sure our drinks were always topped off. “Portion sizes were good, the chicken and carnitas were good, the al pastor didnt taste like anything tbh. They put lettuce on the tacos, and guacamole which for most is a plus but for me wish they’d mentioned it on the menu before i ordered. I wanted a burrito but they make them weird missing the things i want (rice beans cheese with the meat) and adding things I dont generally go for (lettuce salsa fresca guacamole)

Its authentic but whitewashed, like the menu caters to the oceanside surfers rather than latinos who want an authentic tj taco. Overall it was decent but not my top tier favorite.“

“Smallish restaurant with tiny parking lot of about 10 spots shared between 3 businesses. Like the roll up garage door windows, lots of outdoor picnic bench seating under shade canopies (which we couldn't use on this rainy day). Beer selection is pretty good, we had the meat lovers 12 inch pizza and liked the thin crispy crust, a bit skimpy on the toppings but tasty enough.

Parking: I think 10 spots between 3 (?) businesses in this very small strip mini mall.“

“Shaks came recommended to us by our wedding photographer. Upon finding out they were Armenian Lebanese (same as my family!), we knew we would book with them. As we lived out of the country, our parents went to the menu tasting and had the time of their lives. They came back raving about the place and said we have to book. Totally didn't understand the assignment of narrowing down the menu items we should have on the big day, lol. but that's a testament to how good the food is (especially the fresh falafel). Andrew was so helpful on calls, as he is very busy and emails weren't the best method of communication, and answered all of our questions, worked within our parameters and with a ton of integrity. The team was a delight on the day of and worked their tails off in the kitchen with a smile and in front of the guests. The food was a hit with the guest and I am still thinking about the garlic that I'm sure I smelled like on the wedding night because I just couldn't get enough, lol. The leftovers were awesome to have and to share with guests, too. We will be visiting Shak's when we're in the area as a nostalgia trip!!“

“Found this location from a recommendation from one of the exotic tree nurseries down the street. Next to a main road but not to busy or intrusive on our experience. The food was amazing and most important. Fresh authentic, spiced really well and I could not be more impressed with the quality and the chef. Beautiful atmosphere on the flower filled outside cozy seating area. A great place to spend time with a loved one on a bike ride. Will be going back for sure when in the area for sure. We visited in the morning in April 2025.“

For us, the papaya salad was too fish sauce strong, it was good, but overpowering.

We enjoyed the beef curry and our tofu kabocha curry. Perfectly flavored, a 5/10 is genuinely a five, and the portions were great with just enough to bring home leftovers.

As a group we enjoyed the ribs appetizer, but the beef was tough and overcooked. Flavorwise the ribs were great, but chewy.“
